Runs flawlessly on Steam Deck with native controller support, 90hz, and 16:10, requires Protontricks to install .NET first though. Tested with Proton 8.
PC Version of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX 路 By
In Desktop mode, add the game to Steam and choose Proton 8 for compatibility, run it and download the .NET framework. Install Protontricks through the Discover store in Desktop mode, then run the .NET installer with Protontricks, and use linksawakeningdxhd as the prefix. After that, the game should be able to launch through Steam.
I think I'm in the correct prefix and i'm trying to install dotnetdesktop7 (the most recent package available), the install wizard comes up two times and says the installation was successful, but I'm still getting the prompt to download missing files when I try to run the exe in proton 8. I'm sure someone will put out a step by step guide soon, but could you let me know if I'm close?
Used this guide with Heroic Game Launcher, worked for me:
And this one could be handy: https://overkill.wtf/how-to-play-legend-of-zelda-links-awakening-dx-native-pc-po...Does anyone know how to get past this error message? After Protontricks refused to install the .Net i tried that Heroic Games Launcher trick and i got a bit farther. The .Net installer worked and did it's thing, but when trying to run it it just brings up this error message. Trying to run the exe itself through steam just prompts me to install the .Net again like before. How the hell do i get this working?
Run thru the steps listed here exactly as they are: https://overkill.wtf/how-to-play-legend-of-zelda-links-awakening-dx-native-pc-port-on-steam-deck/https://overkill.wtf/how-to-play-legend-of-zelda-links-awakening-dx-native-pc-po...
I hadn't done the "right click -> add to steam" part and instead did it myself thru Steam's "Add non-steam game" and it wouldn't work.
I deleted that non-steam game and tried again, following that guide to a tee and it worked, otherwise I was getting stuck on .net installer crashing.
