I cant open the game, can I get a tutorial or something on how to get the game to even open?

it lets me extract it, which I do, then I look through all the files and double click everything that looks like it would open or launch something, and the only one I could find that would launch something would only give me an error message
Okay. So, within the Zip file, there should be the pa07_0011 folder (if you're downloading the latest, official 0.7.0 patch) and you should extract that file to wherever you put your Itch games. Within the pa07_0011 folder, there should be WindowsNoEditor and within that folder, you should see the VotV application. That will open the game.
