I've gotten Kerfur Omega and processing level 3, so now I'm sitting in the base getting signals and processing them. What are some good ways of making points while waiting? I've taken to cleaning the base but there's only so much trash, I'm gonna need something else past that.

If you have a ton of points already and can invest them in something, get point miners, they are hella expensive but quite slow at the beginning but with max GPUs they can work FAST and make hundreds of points a day. They will need cooling once you start getting a bunch more GPUs in there, though.
You should try and clean out TR_3. Perhaps you could find something useful under all that trash,

Yeah I got the miner, so far only have 2 gpu's but it's what I'm gonna be investing spare points into. I'll see about clearing out tr_3

100% Suggest making a farm/mushroom farm. Try to find the hallucination ones, the REALLY poisonous one, and the blue mushroom. Those sell for quite a bit and only require a farming pot to grow in.

You do have to water them now but nothing a sprinkler can't solve.

Buy food

put food on the floor (concrete)

place trash in a way that makes it wiggle near the food

Infinite roaches that sell for very little, but fit a few hundreds into any containers. Just occasionally place any crushed roaches into a box and send it when you need some cash.
