I’m not appearing on recent devlogs and am not getting any boosts from doing major updates…

Sorry to bug you, but I’m at my wit’s end. My game isn’t receiving any page view boosts from major devlogs, despite uploading new chapters, adding voice acting, etc. What this means is that it’s dying a slow death as no new player sees them. :(

Here is my game page:
https://skyblueaster.itch.io/heartswornabyss-nightmares

I’m wondering if you could approve my recent major devlog updates, or remove the “shadowban” that’s preventing my updates showing as major updates. As far as I know, I have never abused the update system, all my updates have been major ones so far like adding full chapters or voice acting. I messaged http://itch.io support several times, but haven’t received any response despite waiting for days and weeks. I get a ticket number, but no response, ever.

Just kind of losing hope and falling into depression now…

I heard devlogs are a manual approval, but it’s been weeks and my updates have been fairly big; there are games that have updated and received devlog approval in mere hours. It’s pretty much ruined the launch of my game; I’ve been working so hard on releasing chapters but am not receiving any algo/view boosts despite keeping my game updated.

There's no such thing as a shadowban on itch.io, it's just that staff might not agree that your updates are big enough. There's also no algorithm, but itch.io doesn't guarantee visibility in search results either. Please rely on your own promotion outside the site. In fact, our admins have explained many times that getting organic traffic on your pages is the best way to get a boost in search results.

That's a lie. Itch.io for sure have a shadowban - because my games isn't even seen by other people, even published. Today I published my game - it was on the "New games" in a tags for about 10 mins and then I realoaded a page - poof! - disappeared. I tried to sontact support about it by email, but support ignoring this issue (it's about barelyy ALL my games) - the oldest email they ignoring was sent 1st of SEPTEMBER! More than 2 months ago.
So yes, there is shadowban in itch.io system.

Itch sometimes delists projects, even developers. For example if they violate quality guidelines. If you call this a shadowban, yes, there are shadowbans. But in context I heard it, it was about things like ignoring devlogs or like arbitrary lowering ranking in popular sort.

But if your account were delisted, you could not have published your game at all on the index.

If it were visible a short amount of time, this would fit with people reporting your game. Or a coincidence in timing with other reports or automatic triggers putting your things in quarantine. Btw, you did notice that your patreon is unreachable?

Yeah, it's unreachable about 5 months or so, Patreon banned cause it's a NSFW games page

About the other things - yes, I marked my games as "created with AI", so I don't think I violate policies. And wjat about support don't answer for 2 months? Like I really want to resolve the problem, why support doesn't want to contact at all with developers?

There are a ton of patreons with nsfw content. But if this has been so for several months, than maybe some people seeing your games reported you for being an impostor, because they could not verify the patreon you link to from your profile.

Communication with devs could be better, but I also kinda understand why they tend not to tell people what is going on. Worst case they make it even more easy for scammers to upload their things. And best case, the dev does not even know about any investigation. And here it does not matter why there is any manual review. Be it to check eglibility for indexing or quarantine or whatever.

Two months is long but not unheard of and you also uploaded more games in that time, so maybe that put you at the back of the queue.

Your games are quarantined. That's not a shadowban: no-one can find them, yourself included. And see the rules of this category for what to do if support takes too long.

Your game is 88 days old. You have four devlogs. Estimated number of "approved" devlogs: 0-1.

After some digging, the number seems to be 0. Now, is there anything unusual about this number? Nope.

I checked on the game behind you in a tag combination. It has the same ranking in recent as you. And an aproved major devlog will put you on top of recent again. It has 4 devlogs since then. And about 10 devlogs before.

Go check yourself, how many of the recent games are new games and how many are there because of a devlog. There are more devlogs than games, yet the majority of games there is new. Conclusion: an approved major devlog is a rarity.

Also, you have 80 followers on Itch. That is a lot for a new dev, especially for your subgenre. And after looking at your patreon, what are you even complaining about?! Seriously. You are very successful. Did you ever have a look at numbers of other developers? Do it. Please do it.
