TLDR: Stop disabling the 'Esc' key. It's immature and will reduce your market share.

Before sundown, I was unable to save. This continued to THIS:

I alt-tabbed out, and heard myself S:0.0 THUMPABUMPBUMP "I don't want to sleep"  S:0.0 THUMPABUMPBUMP "I don't want to sleep"  S:0.0 THUMPABUMPBUMP "I don't want to sleep" S:0.0 THUMPABUMPBUMP "I don't want to sleep" S:0.0 THUMPABUMPBUMP "I don't want to sleep" S:0.0 THUMPABUMPBUMP "I don't want to sleep" S:0.0 THUMPABUMPBUMP "I don't want to sleep" S:0.0 THUMPABUMPBUMP "I don't want to sleep" S:0.0 THUMPABUMPBUMP "I don't want to sleep" S:0.0 THUMPABUMPBUMP "I don't want to sleep" S:0.0 THUMPABUMPBUMP "I don't want to sleep"

And continued onward to THIS:

Krampus slapped me MANY times. He put me into a nightmare only once, a few minutes before the second image.

I downloaded my first black hole during this time. I wanted to SEE and HEAR it.

So I lost all my progress since sundown before this day.

Can we just allow "savescumming" until we're at full release?

I've seen this with other video games. Here's a reality. It's "savescumming" vs peeing. It's "savescumming" vs pooping your pants. It's "savescumming" vs catching your child before they start lighting mortars. It's "savescumming" vs answering the door for the SWAT team. It's "savescumming" vs leaving your house before evacuating from the wildfires.

A single-player open-world game that forces us to make these choices is a game we don't start playing in the first place.

I have seen forum posts in other games, OP: "Hey can we just pause the game so we can pee or something?" Reply: "Getting paid to work from home while playing this?" Reply: "What's wrong, dad came home drunk again?" Reply: "You shouldn't be playing games if you're popping out crumb crunchers" Reply: "Stop playing this game if you have to monitor your IV drip" I HAVE SEEN POSTS LIKE THIS.

A single-player open-world game with mechanics that accomodate people in the "Reply" posts above and exclude people in the "OP" above is one that many people won't start playing in the first place. They will see forum posts and just not buy it.

This is a single-player open-world experience. Let us experience it the way we want. We can take pride in "not savescumming" ourselves, record it on video, and gloat. Or not. Real-time attentiveness and consequences we can't take back don't need to be part of the experience if we don't want it.

Please, Godz please. Stop disabling the 'Esc' key. A single-player open-world experience has no reason not to have a hard interrupt pause. People over 12 years old actually want to like the game. The design of the technology is appealing to people who have worked with PDP-11s and old batch loading systems, and the job routine reminds them of those days.  They're not going to tollerate being forced into behaving like teenagers who drink one Monster an hour. People younger than this are taken back to a time they never lived in the first place so they can experience it for the first time. But they're just going to quit.

Make an 'Esc' key with no exceptions. Please.

And the Konami code exists for a reason.

I think what needs to happen is that events need to be better categorized such that:

passive threats like what happend with you will allow you to pause and save

actual threats that chase you and harm you should only be able to pause your game

then again, what is happening is very circumstantial because we have holiday threats that were haphazardly thrown in without any oversight on other threats that could cause issues like this.

Hopefully a quickfix gets sent out to swap us out of holiday mode.

ps. if you cannot find the event that's messing with your sleep, you can go to a terminal and type debug (space) events to check which is active currently.

you can also use debug scrape to stop all events that are occurring (even krampus is unstoppable to the mighty scrape command)

1. "Stop disabling the 'Esc' key. It's immature" i think the only whos immature is you here. disabling esc key is made so u wont at least skip thru events
2. theres debug command to delete krampus via in-game console
3. maybe just dont play "test" versions???

In a future update, you will have the option to pause during events, but not save and presumably still not sleep.

This would be much better

An extra tip as well, you don't have to suffer at 0 stamina if you can't sleep and can't get anything else to restore it, you can use the shower in the bathroom to restore your stamina up to 20 for free.
