You can't find it again, there's only one version of each cat per world. Create a new save, find the cat there, then transfer it to your main save (I don't know if you can put it in your inventory, I've never summoned it).
I'm pretty sure it was like this originally, then it got changed to not work again to prevent players from getting several cats, but then it was changed back because that caused these kinds of issues.
