What's the early-game method for wood to craft arrows? I've managed a stone axe and cut down some trunks to logs "[" but they are listed as needing woodcutting 0%? Do I just need a better axe/hatchet?

I wandered up to a village, but everybody was hostile and I lost my new axe before I could test it out :)

You can press "u" key near the log and target it if you have an axe equipped and you should be able to cut it into usable wood. If all conditions are met you will see an action with an axe icon on your action bar.

Yeah, everyone is hostile here, except some animals. :)

Oh, I do need to pay more attention that action bar.

Took me a while to figure out I needed to press U to turn the logs into wood too, since to cut tree down, and then the logs down, and the fact you can just walk over the 3rd stage, the inconsistency confused me until I read the tooltip
