Can't download games from Itch.io

Hi,

Unfortunately I can't download any games from Itch.io anymore, even one of my roommates doesn't get the zip file after the pop-up shows up. I remember downloading on this PC before, so it's a bit odd. Does anyone else experience the same issue?

It sucks especially now, because we published a game here yesterday and wanted our friends to try it.

So using a VPN does allow me to download games from Itch.io. This is a bit strange though because our router isn't actively blocking anything. I saw threads form a year ago about the same issue, so it would be nice to get some support on this.

Are you using the app?
If not, what browser are you using?
Do you have any download extensions installed?
Do you have a virus scanner running?
Have you tried the download mirror? (click "trouble downloading" from the download page)

Our files are served from the same CDN as our images, so generally if images are loading on the site then downloads should also be working. This might help you narrow down your search to the issue.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Downloading games doesn't work in any browser (with extensions disabled). Images and other content load fine, but for some reason I can only download games through a VPN. There are no console errors in Chrome and the download button simply shows javascript:void(0) with no further events except the pop-up with "Thanks for downloading".

Have you tried using our app? https://itch.io/app it might give your more information.

For the browser, if you're comfortable with your browser's console, you can check the network tab after starting the download. A new entry will appear when the download should start, and if it's failing then you might be able to see an error message.

Alright I got the following error message (IP addresses redacted):

So I tried https://www.stackpath.com/highwinds/ using http://cloudharmony.com/speedtest-for-highwinds and there weren't any issues. Although going directly to the hwcdn page from the download does result in an "ERR_CONNECTION_RESET" error.

Also can't download.
