Can't Get Game to Run?

I was SO excited to play this game--I've been looking for something Pokemon-like for ages, but it won't run! I've tried re-downloading it several times, starting it in compatibility mode, downloading it to different places, but no dice.  It won't even open to give me some sort of error message, it simply doesn't open at all.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, we'd need more information to even begin to guess what might be happening. OS, OS version, is the game being run as administrator? Have you tried running it in compatibility mode?

Windows 10 OS. I've run it in multiple compatibility modes, and tried to run it as an administrator. When I run compatibility mode or run compatibility troubleshooter, it still doesn't work--I will click "test troubleshooter" (or whatever the exact phrase is), it doesn't open.  I've tried downloading it to several different places. Every thing I try is the same--my computer acts as though it's loading (mouse pointer turns into a circle) but then never actually opens. I've tried downloading it straight to my computer and using the itch.io app--when I used the game manager app, it would show as loading and then wouldn't open (though it claims I've spent time playing it).  I'm sure it's something really simple I'm doing wrong but I can't for the life of me figure out what.

Hmm... I'm not really sure what could be going on as the game was built on Windows, and our current machine runs on Windows 10, and the game still works perfectly fine. That said, we should have a new build that runs on a more up-to-date version of the game engine in a few days, so maybe that'll work?

I'll try it then! I've tried downloading it just using the zip file. There's a couple other games I can't get to play so I'm sure it's something on my end, I just can't figure it out. I'll keep trying!

I just downloaded it on Win10 with no launch issues, but I downloaded the .zip direct, rather than the Itch.io launcher! Would that make a difference?

Developer

We don't specifically configure our games to work with the launcher, so it is definitely possible it could make a difference on the user's end.

I hope it's ok to say this but considering the bundle is so ridiculously huge you might have missed it but there's a very pokemon-like game in the bundle called "Apple Quest Monsters"

I'm also going to check out this game, ah so many games to play!

Developer

No worries. :) Everyone is free to make recommendations for similar titles!

Hope you enjoy Mon-cuties!

Ah ok. Actually I was wrong about that game, I didn't read the description fully. It's not an actual game.

Apple Quest Monsters is actually a pdf of a game guide somebody made about a fictional game that doesn't exist. It still looks cool though.

and Mon-Cuties is definitely on my list. :)
