Startup bug: Can't run 'Data/xScripts.rxdata'

Hello! I'm really looking forward to playing this game and have heard so many great things about it but it won't seem to start. Every time I try to run the oneshot.exe file I get a black square and the error "Can't run 'Data/xScripts.rxdata' ", and then it closes. I run windows 10, and have downloaded the requisite C++ software to run the game but have tried both the 64bit and 32bit versions and both times I still get the same error message. Can you help me out?

- Thanks

Do you have a screenshot of the error message that pops up?

Can you confirm that the xScripts.rxdata file exists in the Data folder in the folder that Oneshot's been extracted/installed to?

Developer

What location are you running the game from?  And how are you launching it exactly?

Inside a folder called "Videogames" is a folder called "OneShot Game". I've extracted the  "OneShot Standalone build 64bit" folder into "OneShot Game", and from "OneShot Standalone 64bit" I click on the "oneshot" application with a lightbulb icon. I'm running the game from my laptop.

Hmmm, maybe try running the game as an Administrator?  Since it looks like the xScripts.rxdata file is exactly where the game is expecting to find it.

No dice :/ It's alright though I think I'll bite the bullet and buy the game on steam

Just had the exact same error, but with "oneshot: the pancake episode". Fixed it after one hour by just copy+paste-ing the entire game folder to my onedrive. No idea why that works.
