nvda speech problems in the tutorial page?

Hello!

In Onslaught, NVDA

alpha-20400,675c4c54 is on a bit of a bender during the tutorial page. I was able to read the tutorial using sapi without problem, but on NVDA, we have:

1. Start the tutorial

2. NVDA says: ᘪ

OK: button

3. Attempt 2?

곀໏

OK: button

Is this a problem with the betas? I can go ahead and try on a stable build if needed.

Otherwise the game's pretty good, though I need to contact Turtle Beach and see if these sounds are bad for the Elite Atlas Aero while in Superhuman Hearing mode, as there is some clippage from time to time. Do you have a general list of assets/sound libraries as to where these sounds came from so I can refer the support staff to these sounds?

Thanks!

Best Regards,

Jack

Thanks! I’ll see if I can repro the NVDA issues tomorrow and push another build. I suspect I know what’s going on there, but I’ll need to fire things up in a VM and work through it. To confirm, it’s just the tutorial that does this?

Most sounds are listed in the credits at the end of the manual. If you can ID a particular sample that clips regularly, let me know and I’ll get it to you. None of them are particularly proprietary, so I’m happy to share them in the name of debugging your hardware issues.

Thanks again.

Developer

Sorry to double post. Are you running the tutorial with a game controller connected? You’ll get different messages with a controller connected vs. not, so I need to know which code path is giving you these issues.

Yes, this is only happening in the tutorial. It is also happening with the speech rate panel, but:

1. The rate values are still being read, and

2. That's a bit of a mute point since you wouldn't be changing the speech-rate in-game when using a screen-reader anyway.

Developer

Oh, you’re right, the rate setting should be hidden on synthesizers that don’t support rate. Thought I’d done that already. Should be in the next version. Thanks for catching!
