February Dreams

LOL okay so I wrote this whole post and somehow managed to highlight everything and replace it with the letter B right as I hit save SO THATS COOL.

Let's see if i can, again, summarize. (and I think I need to start writing these up in a dedicated word document )

Here’s this month’s playlist:

This month’s goal was to relax and by golly I think I’ve done it. :)

I was able to refresh my entire office, I tried out a bunch of new crafts (polymer clay, crochet, etc) and I was able to come back to my work with a fresh set of eyes.

For my space game, I was able to draw 3 of the 50(ish) images I need. This is a game that theres no deadline on, i work on it when I wanna work on it. And I want to keep it that way. :) Don’t expect this one anytime soon. (Also its not very long haha)

For the world of mokemon, i was able to get my transitions working just as I want them. There’s a few areas im anxious about but hey I cant make non wonky games without making a few (or like, a lot lol) of wonky ones first.

(my working transition system)

Going forward I’m gonna try taking the same approach to gamedev that I do for pottery.

When a piece doesnt turn out the way I wanted it, I’ll shrug and just say “eh, whatever” and move on. And the ones that do turn out the way I like them, I’m SO HAPPY. I could care less about wonky rims or uneven walls. I just dont care! LOL. I am a pottery teacher’s worst nightmare hahahahaha.

(My wonky Lisa Frank pottery, with wonky rims and weird feet.)

So I’m also going to be a gamedev teacher’s worst nightmare. :) (Tho tbh I think I already am. Haha;;; but WHO CARES, RIGHT???? )

A good thing happened this month that made me realize that even if I’m still hurting, there’s healing happening too.

I got a dumbass comment. Like, screenshot and show a friend dumbass. Now, did I cry about it? I would have, a year ago. But I just laughed and I moved on!! Woah!! WOAH!!! WHO IS THIS??? Its so powerful to just not care!!

So For next month–

I’m gonna try to increase the gamedev speed a tiny bit. I’m aiming to do 2 hrs of work on Mondays, and Thursdays. Weekends are still going to be gamedev free for now. Eventually I’d like to increase Mon and Thursday to 3 hrs each, add an hour on Tuesday, 2 hrs on Wednesday and get a few hours in on Sat and Sun but that’s only when Im FULLY HEALED.

Phew okay so to make a concrete list of things to do:

  1. Finalize outline for Nanoreno (participating this year with a friend!! :D :D )
  2.  Finish 2 pictures for Space game
  3. Be able to “battle” random encounters in mokemon (this might be a bit too much to ask for tbh there’s a lot that goes into this haha; )

I’m traveling the backhalf of february and the beginning of march, so that also factors into what I’ll be able to accomplish.

Anyway, we shall see. :) And with that I’ll see you next month!

Mood: Calm

Eating: Day-old pizza

Drinking: Coffee, as usual

Reading: Changing Planes - Ursula K. Le Guin

For a book with a cover featuring a naked woman animorphing into a stalk of corn (I wish I was making this up) this is an AMAZING book. Its basically a bunch of short stories describing all these different alien cultures and they just are so delightful. They start out small and cutesy and Le Guin keeps putting pressure on the culture and keeps cutting down further and further to the underlying issues in each of these imaginary societies. Its really good. She just might be one of my favorite authors now. She already was but I've just be consistently impressed with all of her work, not a single miss yet???
