This game is fantastic! There's not a thing I dislike about it. The art and audio are great and the gameplay is right up my alley. I love card games. It's pretty well executed too. Your mechanics are easy to grasp but still require some strategizing. Very inspiring submission
Thanks for trying it! I actually implemented more cards in the beginning, but after some playtesting removed them because it got too much for the player. So card balancing was done for sure, nice to see that it was worth the time! Also, we are thinking about creating a larger game out of this, and we'll be updating about it here and on tiktok (@studiohemvist). Again, thanks for giving it a shot, super appreciate it!
Nice to be with you in the same jam again! Well, that one I liked a lot. Maybe because I'm currently completely obsessed with "I was a Teenage Exocolonist" where there is a mechanic of "deckbuilding your memories" or maybe because I just like deckbuilding as an old MTG fan, lol.
One of the favourites so far. I enjoyed copying copies with copies he he he he
Visuals are really good too
Wish you win!
Nice to see you again too! The design of this is really an amalgamation of other games (the card system is heavily inspired by slay the spire and a mobile game called red riding hood), one of them being "signs of the sojourner", a really awesome deckbuilder about social interactions. Sounds like it could bea bit similar to that "deckbuilding your memories". Might be worth giving a peek :3
Thanks a ton for trying the game!
I may have found a bug, or I completely misunderstood how the cards work. I am at the (I think?) last stage in the last level and when I have 2 emotional, and use the card that zeroes the cost of two next played cards. Then I wanted to play the card that costs 2 emotional, it should have been free, but it killed me. Twice already, because I thought I just missclicked and didn't use the "make-it-free" card. I'm not sure if I have the energy to try again..
Either way - the artstyle is really fun, music is very good, too. Not sure about how the game fits the theme, I guess I would find out if I was able to finish the game. Really nice entry though!
Thanks for trying! Sorry that threw you off, that’s a clarity issue I noticed but couldn’t figure out how to deal with. Definitely something we’ll improve for a post jam version. The game is also a bit too punishing when you do fall, so that’s something we’ll try to improve as well. We actually tried incorporating the theme into the story / progression, losing cards along the way, but it was, eh, maybe not the most direct way to implement the theme. Anyhow, thanks for checking this out!
This is really cool! Love the idea of having a deck to climb a mountain, losing and replacing cards as you progress. The game has a very nice pace to it and the interactrions feel very smooth.
The art is lovely! I feel like everything is slightly blurry, but I guess I got used to that quickly.
The game could use a tutorial and maybe some visual element of you climbing (maybe a player model?
I really enjoyed this! Well done
Thanks for trying it out! This is my first experience with high res art in a long time, and everything is really quite janky and thrown together. Our art pipeline has been, well, an absolute soup of spaghetti kind of? Anyways yes it's blurry when you are running it at lower resolutions, highly recommend playing fullscreen (way less blurry then). We are thinking about making a larger game out of this, and then tutorial is definitely something we'll be getting into. (also sneaky self promo issie here, if you do want to know if that happens then @studiohemvist on tiktok for shitposting + games or just here) . That's the advertisement please and thanks. And something showing that you are climbing is definitely something that passed through our heads, but was scrapped because as always, time was running out. Again, definitely something we'll look on if we create a larger game out of this.
Anyhows, thanks again for trying out our game!
It is a really cool card game! I was shocked by the music changing between levels, those are very smooth transition. For the UI, you even have animation for mouse cover cards, which looks amazing! For the game, your difficulty for each level is designed very balanced, it moves from easy to hard, and the card game is fun to play. So I have to say I love your game, hard to believe this is done in a week. Wish you can create more good games like this.
Thanks for trying it! Newlife+ who did the music is kinda of insane and is the one who really made those transitions possible. It took a bit of implementation to get it as smooth as it is, but they really brought it up a notch with the whole vibe. We are thinking about making this a larger game, so definitely follow us here or itch or over on tiktok (@studiohemvist) where we put all the updated! :3
Again, thanks for trying out lil game, super appreciate it!
