Hey everyone! I didn’t submit a game for the jam, but I did play more than 300 of your games! It was a lot of fun, and I made a Top 10 video of my favorite from the jam. Check it Out!

Did you play Across the RIFT or did it slip under your radar? Eager to get your feedback on it, I’m sure you’ll find it worthy of your top ten 👀

I had NOT played yours. Really a cool game. I love the cell shading style (despite there being no color haha) and the intro sequence in the characters quarters to gather information before entering the heavy gameplay reminded me of Rollerdrome.

I enjoyed the gameplay as well. Though I do think it could use a bit more tuning. Speed in particular.

That said, Incredible entry for a jam of this length. Had I played it, it would have been in the top 10, but I can only play so many.

Thanks

Yeah, gameplay is something we really need to polish, our issue is we always over-scope and we don’t have enough time for playtesting 😭 But it’s something that we will actively work on.

Many thanks for your kind words 🙏🏻

A great compilation video. helped me find a lot of fun games to play as well!

Would love to know where my game (Bravery of the Coward) lies on your list :D

I hadn't played this on either. I liked it a lot. The animations are nice, the sounds are crunch, but could use a little level balancing.

Beyond that, I liked the in game tutorial, which is always welcome, and frequently forgotten.

Point of personal preference is the camera. It's very restricted, which I understand is part of the intent, but with platformers I prefer a bit more scope.

My Only real critique is the physics tuning. The play feels, if not unfair, at least unbalanced. For example when your jump gets strong enough it almost stops being a benefit and starts being a problem.

But all that can be worked out if you choose to keep working on it. The bones of the game are great.

Thanks!

Thanks for the detailed review!

Hmm, I do get the camera part since having the whole view is always better. Had to focus on the immersion however so the compromise.

The game balance is one we're painfully aware of, especially the spikes bug as well.

And the powerups part is also something we're trying to resolve by having a dynamic jump height.

Thanks for the critics! Have fun :D
