All of it was made by me during the jam period
Was the majority of the music made by your team during the jam period?
The music was made by a friend prior to the jam, and I asked him to use it in the game as an example song cuz it is fire

I play quite a few rhythm games, so seeing more of the genre is nice. The overall aesthetic of the game is really tight, and the autoscrolling background probably took some work to implement - it's not distracting at all though because of the well placed sidewalk, so everything is readable. It's like the music is hitting the guy and he's listening to it. 2 note types, while mechanically very simple, was probably the right choice because you were not manually mapping things, so the model couldn't distinguish between more than 2. This is definitely more of a tech demo than a designed game since the outcome is individual and not deterministic for anyone, but that's fine, because it shows the potential that games could have by implementing some degree of ML in algorithms they use, if any, and also because it's straight up impressive to even think about attempting this, let alone successfully complete it within a week or so.
This was so amazing!!! I love rhythm games and this stole my heart. Props to your friend for allowing you to use their amazing song as the default! I also loved the ability to insert songs, that's so cool! Even though the charts are a bit wonky, I'm sure they'll be even better being trained on more songs! I love that you made it clear when we got good, okay, or bad notes with green, yellow, or red colors, but I would love to see some color for missed notes, too! Maybe faded or black? It would also be nice if a pop-up saying what kind of note you hit came on screen, though that's maybe because I'm used to rhythm games having that haha. Love the chill environment with the background, and I hope to see you add more cool features in the future! If you keep working on this, maybe consider different difficulty levels, at least for the default song! I'd really enjoy that.
WOW WOW WOW this is so impressive!! Lovely visuals and autumn theming, the clean transition between the title and gameplay is sending me. Anything rhythm-related steals my heart and it was super interesting trying out sidescroll for the first time., it took a little getting used to but it clicked eventually (potentially adding upscroll or downscroll as options would be wonderful) An absolute banger of a track that comes installed?? Major props to that. And, hold on.. CUSTOMIZABILITY?? You just provided infinite replayability value, amazing! Hands off to the technical feat, although I did try a couple custom songs and was pretty confused about the charts it created. Since you said the model was based off the OG song I'm sure I was messing with it giving it unique tracks but I suppose that comes from further refinement. Damn I'm shook lmao
Just mentioning here that I'd love for my project to be considered for the "technicality" category in the game jam's scoring. There's a description on my game's page titled "TECH RUNDOWN" describing how my project works!
This project is incredibly impressive, especially from a technical standpoint! The visuals are so well made -- love the vibe.
My only feedback is that if possible, add a loading animation or something while generating a new level from a song since currently it freezes the whole game. (I'm not familiar with the framework you used, or if that's even possible with it!) Other than that, maybe a volume slider so I don't need to turn down my whole computer's sound.
I think this is a really great game and technical showcase, well done!
As someone who also made a rhythm game, this absolutely amazes me!!! This is actually so awesome omg
It is beyond cool that you can generate levels from the song. great job. Love the style too.
Only issue is that the arrow keys are a bit awkward to use, and it would be nice for two sets of each key.
