I remember playing this from the previous jam, and I have gotten better at racing games. Gameplay wise i think it feels perfect. Nice and smooth

If you were to continue, I think all you would need to do is add some visual decorations, such as little advertisements on the track walls, additional environmental props, and maybe even like a cool looking speedometer. Stuff that you would just have fun with.

For my taste, I think it would benefit from having a little bit of texture on the grass and walls and such, other than that it looks great.

Thanks! I’m glad you liked it. Most of my efforts for this version were gameplay related but you’re right that there is still a lot of room for visual improvements.

So smooth! I really enjoyed playing this. I didn’t make a leaderboard but I may keep trying! My only crit is I wish hitting the guard rails would be more punishing.

Nice work!!

I’m glad you liked it. The collision code is not very good, it treats the entire car as a single point in space. I wanted to improve it so that colliding to the wall would have a more realistic effect on the car (while still being arcade) but I barely made it as it is to the deadline. But yeah, it’s one of the points I would like to improve for the next version. Thanks!

huge improvements, really fun game, makes you want to go for the leaderboard

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Unfortunately for me, it’s currently very hard to get to the leaderboard. I guess I suck at my own game :)

Super fun, the controls were improved by lightyears. The original game was very slippery and it was almost like the car was ice skating, but now the car has a lot of grip and is extremely fun to drive and it is fun to find new routes to shave a few milliseconds off previous times. New tracks is very cool too.

Developer

Thanks! I had to rewrite the car control from scratch several times to get it right, I think this is like the third or fourth iteration. There are some things I would like to improve, though. For instance, the previous version could handle slopes in the track, this one is limited to a flat plane.

Nice job, the controls are definitely an improvement. I also like the addition of new tracks.

Thanks! I’m glad you liked it :)

I like the look of the game, captures that 32-bit visual really well. Controls was the biggest thing i felt improvement wise, it felt really slippery in the original version which I appreciate you changing. Only complaint I have is for there to be more stuff going in the future like obstacles or other cars.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I spent a lot of time tweaking the car physics. There are still a lot of bugs related to the collision detection that I didn’t have enough time to fix. That’s the main reason I didn’t add more “stuff” in the tracks. I would have loved to have other cars to race against. Maybe for the next jam :)

Simple, but impressive, not gonna lie. I've seen all the effort you made to improve your game, and that's admirable. Hope this get improved even further with more tracks and cars and who knows, it even becomes a full game at some point. It's great.

P.D: Am i the only one that think this could be a great mobile game :D.

Developer

Thanks! I’d like to add more tracks and cars. However, I think I’ll take a break from this game for a while since I’m a little tired of it after crunching for the last couple of days…

Overall, it was great! I even found myself getting hooked for nearly an hour, replaying all the levels. Although I didn't manage to make it onto the leaderboard. The game was very relaxing despite being technically a racing game. If you plan to update the game, adding a couple more tracks and different cars would make a big difference.

Developer

Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it :) I like the fact that the game has a relaxing vibe but it’s also challenging if you’re trying to get a record. I agree with you about having more tracks and cars but I just didn’t have enough time to add them.

Nice job on this one! I can see you spent a lot of effort improving on the previous version. I liked the variety of scenery on the different tracks. The game has a very authentic 90s arcade racer feel to it.

I would love to see some other cars on the track but understand that this is a whole new level of work to do. While in the original version, the car handling was slightly wonky,  I actually kind of liked it. It posed more of a challenge where the new version felt a little bit easy. Not that I was good enough to make the leaderboard anyway :)

Developer

Thanks! I did spend a lot of effort and I’m glad it’s noticeable. I completely agree with you about having other cars to race against. In fact, I had initially planned to add support for online multiplayer but I grossly underestimated the time it would take so I had to settle for more reasonable goals (as always). Maybe for the next jam…
