I really love the visual direction of this one from day one while you posted it on Twitter. Simple yet elegantly beautiful. The atmosphere is very well established with all the sounds and design. But like many pointed out below I was having trouble figuring out what the objective is. I spent quite a while running around interacting with objects and picking up masks wherever they appear. I saw the color of the gem changed and the sound of the object change but other than that I'm just wandering around endlessly. I don't know why, but I've found the atmosphere a bit creepy as well, like anything can pop out at any moment 👀.

But overall, great job! The game feels very polished and complete, no bugs to be found (yet) which is quite rare for a jam game, so kudos for that! Presentation is top notch.

Thank you for the feedback and for hosting the jam! :)

You should have seen the game before anyone playtested it. No one even remotely knew what to do, haha.
I kinda expected that though, since I'm more of an artist and less of a game designer.
But I learned a lot. Next time I will try to come up with compelling gameplay before making everything look and sound pretty and see how that turns out.

Cheers!

Really beautiful design - although why you pranking us with that dirt overlay :P Good concept, I did the first barrier by accident so it took me slightly longer to realise that each crystal mapped to a specific colour but got there in the end :)

Developer

Merci !
Haha... it looked kinda naked and too clean without that overlay. :P

Great concept, amazing job on both the visuals and the audio (I love that shader!), you've created a very unique atmosphere and the whole game felt really polished. I also loved the endgame music, I kept it running for quite a few minutes :)

This game is a piece of art!

Developer

Thank you! :)))

Great experience! Visually impressive, I love edge detection, the crystals, the whale :) A bit confusing at first but after figuring everything out, I'd say it's one of the best games on this jam. Shooting seemed a bit underused or unnecessary but other than that it's great :>

Developer

Thanks, man!
I wanted to make a FPS first, but ran out of time as soon as I started implementing the audio stuff. :P

The game was quite a challenge, but I really enjoyed it. Not often I encounter on jams sth that feels like a complete game so congrats for a great entry ;)

Developer

Thanks :)

Very nice game.

I loved the visuals, and overall feel of the game.

The audio puzzle was good! I guess the goal of the masks was to guide you hints, it was a nice way to do it. Oh and the ending music / screen is so relaxing haha!

Congrats!!

Developer

Thanks! :)
The mask is more of an extra to make the maze feel more alive, have a bit of a surprise element and to be able to shoot something.
It will just show up in random places and watch you. When shot it will re-materialise somewhere else. At first I wanted it to be able to kill you and have a whole health and ammo system and whatnot. But you know... overscoping and stuff. :D

Ok! I was very lucky then, because it seemed to me the mask was guiding me to the places I needed to go to. By the way the shooting animation was neat, I understand why you would want to give shooting a purpose! ;p

WOW that was awesome!!
Visuals were so beautiful, and I really enjoyed having to listen closely to figure things out.
Music didn't feel adaptive but music was used to a great extent

Space whales~

Developer

Thanks! Happy you enjoyed it =)

I liked the visual style, very pretty. Was cool seeing that whale out there. And the ending scene was very nice.

Other than triggering the different musical cues on the props, I didn't get a sense that the main background music was adapting or changing throughout the playthrough, maybe I missed something.

Oh, and you got me with that screen effect. First thought was "How did my monitors get so dirty already?!"

Developer

Haha, thanks! :)
The only adaptive part is the flute that triggers once the map and the eye become visible.

This is really really neat.
I'm not rating it yet, I want to beat it first!

If I can have a hint, I feel like I'm running in circle: I noticed the sound queues depending on where I'm standing in the maze but I'm not quite sure what to do at that point. I followed the masks (I shot them), but I didn't notice if it was doing something to the maze. Am I in the right direction ?

I'll comeback to this for sure! I love the design so far. The art style is gorgeous, I'm amazed. It plays smoothly too!

Thanks, man! Glad you're enjoying it.

Hm, a hint... let's say: the mask is a deceiver.
