I played all the levels and killed a ton of enemies. The different guns are cool and I like the art and animations. The best levels were ARENA, the fight and story is great, and SNOWSTORM, I liked the different style of play, and I didn't care for MECHAMONVO, due to the repeat of enemies, and SERENITY, due to its emptiness. The only issue is that I ran into a bug with the gatling gun where it would freeze in animation and no longer shoot bullet objects, but would still damage enemies and make bullet holes if that makes sense. Honestly I think some of the levels being longer might be a plus, but either way I like the mecha combat and flying is fun. What are your plans with the game going forward?

Developer

the plan is to complete the story, create a better arcade game loop, polish aesthetics and fix performance.

i have a bunch of new weapons, levels and enemies planned for the next build, then i will probably feature freeze and focus on polishing what i have

the hand drawn art in the corner with the rendered cockpit is soul. I had by far the most fun in arcade mode since there was an interesting space to maneuver around in and lots of fellas to shoot at. Every weapon except the gatling and grenade has such a slow rate of fire that i ended up just swapping weapons each shot to keep up with the enemies. The side dash didn't feel like a meaningful change in speed. and the quick turnaround i only ever activated by accident trying to back-dash.

The campaign with other characters was cool too but i had no idea what was going on or how the levels were connected. Reminded me a bit of Ace Combat missions but without the between mission briefs. The tower map was really fun but the other ones were pretty damn sparse on the enemies. Overboost in the big map was really cool (especially boosting into the skybox to drop in on buildings) but I wish I had some control over it.

its a fun experience and im looking forward to more Hawken kino

Concept is pretty cool. I know you're using placeholders currently but i think it would be exponentially cooler once you get the final art nailed down.

is fun, PUT THE NUKE IN MORE MAPS

I'm curious. Why is the GNU/Linux version almost twice as large in size as the Windows version? It was too sluggish for me play. That's a problem on my end though.

Developer

the windows version is zipped, and zipping it reduces the size

i'm STILL trying to fix the stutters on loading a sound for the first time, it gets better the longer you play, but the first minutes are pretty bad....

Where is the nuke? I couldn't find it. It's really easy to get out of bounds in the randomly generated level and the brick house obliterated my framerate when I shot it lol. I do like the new defense level but it would be nicer if the artillery actually shot at the enemies and helped you a bit

Developer

the nuke launcher was put on top of the AA building that it's on my current "cover" screenshot in the arcade map.

now that i think about it i should have put it in a few more maps... welp
