This game is the best use of single pixels I have seen in the jam, is nice to see how much you can do and transmit with so little ( I mean the minimalistic pixelart), nice interactive story!

Thank you so much, this really means a lot to hear!

I just love these simple retro-type games!

I loved the atmosphere, the butterflies, the story, the art.

this has so much potential!

Developer

Thank you so much!! I am hoping to turn this into a longer game with a more fleshed-out story and world building. I’m so glad you liked it :)

Dang it didn't realize the woman on the bench had more text, I guess I accidentally walked away when she still had things to say the first time.

Cool little interactive story.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I’m happy you liked it! I think I could make it more obvious when the text is done, definitely something I’ll be changing in the expanded version if that ever happens.

Really interesting game. Though I didn't understand what I was supposed to do^^ I played two runs first talking to everybody then second talking to no one. The person on the bench always says FAILED and then the game closes.. Idk what to do differently :/  Also the game window was opening bigger than my screen so I couldn't see the bottom. Maybe I missed something.. The atmosphere was really good though with the simple graphics and the music. Was really creepy^^

I am posting a slightly updated version, with a hint on the bad end. I didn’t realize how cryptic it was when I made it the first time. I’m glad you liked it! I am likely going to expand this game and flesh out the world more than I had time to. You have to go back to the person asking about the bridge after examining the bridge.

Ah I see. Now I got the ending :) When you do an updated version you maybe also want to fix the window size. I guess it's based on the combined screen size or something? Because of my monitor setup it must have thought the size would fit but I couldn't see everything on a single monitor. So either the text or inventory was not visible. Maybe put a maximum height there or something :)

yes definitely, thank you for letting me know about that. I have no idea how to do that at the moment and I didn’t have time to learn it for the jam but I will implement that in any future releases!

Interesting game. I don't know if I figured it all out. I tried playing it twice over. The first run I got the text "Fail" and the game closed. So I tried playing it again and moving past the character but hit an invisible wall. Definitely curious about the plot! Tried figuring out the blank sentences too but not sure how far i got on it. I think I got the "Anyway, you have to go under the bridge with the -------" and "hello this is John K---, I know how to get out of this -----------" Not sure if there's a clue there if there's something I'm missing. Thought the experience of the game was intriguing and the simple graphics made me feel like it is in the vein of a pixel art horror game. I liked the effects you put in like the text covering the whole screen as you struggle to remember. Think a UI change that I might have liked is the dialogue getting dismissed when you continue. I thought I had hung the game on accident when the dialogue lingered. But not a big deal.

Developer

Oh jeez, so the invisible wall is supposed to happen but it's also supposed to just close the game, so I guess I should have done that better.  There was originally a reason I had the text linger, but I didn't get around to putting it in, so I probably should have taken it out. I also probably could have hinted to the solution upon a fail, which I think I will change and reupload after the jam. Thank you for all your feedback though I really appreciate it! :)

Oh dang so I missed something! If you don't mind, could I get a hint? Would love to try again.

Yes, the pink NPC who is upside down asks you do to something in the first section... good luck!

Yay! Thanks so much! Managed to get the necklace and the  ending :D The artwork for the "the end" screen is so cute.
