I love the camera effect, it was like the background was on rolls like old physical games of that type.
The fact that you have to answer a question to unlock the door adds to the game show feeling.
The sounds got on my nerve pretty quickly I must say, but it is not an issue.
I always tend to prefer when there’s a little more gravity as it feels more predictable that way, but it was fine.
Good job.
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked the game and sorry you didn't like the sounds, I had to make the quickly, as I had limited time.
It’s not that I didn’t like the sounds, it’s just that repetitive sounds like it tend to get me nervous. Don’t worry.
I like how you were able to take a simple cube on some platforms and create a narrative around him. I truly wanted the droid to make it and not become deactivated. I did not finish the game however because it began to make me sick due to the camera effect. The camera effect is a cool idea, I just couldn't keep staring at it. It was challenging and it made me want to try again when I would fail. The jumping I feel could be improved. Maybe faster acceleration on the jump and higher gravity on the fall.
Sorry you couldn't finish the game! I didn't playtest with the camera much , so that's a lesson learned! Glad you liked the narrative! I feel like the fall acceleration would've been too much if higher, but thanks for the feedback.
A very fun platformer! All of the basic elements are there - you have a goal, a purpose, and danger to prevent you from getting there. Obviously you have a desire to win, because you don't want the droid to be destroyed!
A couple of issues I ran into - the fish-eye effect on the camera can be a little nauseating at times, and there was one instance where I got stuck on top of the lava and couldn't get back up - climbing against a wall helped.
The bounce pad is a good addition - does it increase your height based on how many times you fall on it/your initial height? It feels sometimes like you jump very high so an upper cap on that height would help retain control.
Well done on completing and submitting your game!
Thanks for playing! I didn't realize the fisheye effect was a problem, could've playtested a bit more. The lava issue is a problem , I'll fix it post jam. Yes, the bouncing pads do increase height on every jump.
The CRT-monitor-like-scrolling when you move is an intersting idea! But I'm not sure if it works too well, maybe it needs more polish? It made seeing things a bit harder.
The jumping feels floaty and so does falling. It doesn't cause gameplay issues though, I did not end up messing any jumps because of it, it does feel a bit off though.
I enjoy how the mountains look.
Thanks for the feedback! Hmm, I did try to make falling faster but I guess it needs more tweaking.
Cool game, especially on the bouncy platform that doubles the height of jump, but a limit of height would be nice.
Thanks for playing!
Ya I will!
Nice game! I liked the simple tune of the music, tho I think reducing the echo effect of the intro would help. Also had some times where the lava wouldn't reset my spot so I could just stand on the lava. another thing would be i wouldn't recommend putting spikes right next to where the player drops without them being able to see them, but overall a nice starting point
Thanks for the feedback! Ya the spikes were a bit too hard, but glad you could complete it. Sorry for the glitches, I will work on them post-jam. Thanks again!
