Hello everyone! This will be my second game jam that I plan to actually finish. I've only attempted 3 game jams and have only finished one. Good luck everyone and I hope everyone is able to get a finished product out of the door!

Thank you for the constructive feedback. I understand all of the issues you faced. If I had it to do over again there would be some different things I focused on.  Primarily with how the rooms are generated and the transitions between rooms.

Absolutely, the enemy behavior and collisions were very much bare bones due to my time crunch. I certainly wish I could have dialed them up better. I’m glad you liked the two endings to choose from!

Thanks for your comments. I completely agree and wish I would have had more time to add all of the content I originally wanted to. I’m glad you found it interesting!

Thank you. There’s so much more I wish I could have done. I ended up crunching myself for time so I didn’t get to polish like I wanted to. I’m really glad you enjoyed it and found it interesting!

Thank you for the review and comments! I had some more content I would have loved to have put into the game but didn’t have the time. The doors are all randomized each time you enter a new room. Sometimes you just get unlucky and get placed in the same room 3 or 4 times in a row. That’s one of the biggest flaws in the game for sure that I would have done better if I had a do over.

Happy you enjoyed it!

Thank you for playing and for the review. I really enjoy a good story and feel like it can make an average game a good game, so thank you for saying that. I agree, one of my cons in my postmortem I did revolved around the doors. I felt like there wasn't enough feedback when you entered a room to know what was happening. I had initially though about making it to where you can't go into the same room consecutively, but I really like your idea of the changing door numbers.

This was so much fun to play! I love the Among Us vibes, having to complete tasks. I like that critical things will occur while you are working on your other tasks as well. The art style is very well done and it feels very polished.

I hate that stupid bot! He's terrible...and by terrible I mean really good. Good job on this game, it was a lot of fun to play. It was extremely frustrating but not because the controls were bad or anything, just because it doesn't candy coat things for you. Well done!

The game was fun to play. The art style is great as well, definitely pleasing to look at. I did have some issues with the jump pads not always responding to my collision, you may try creating a separate collision entity that you can just make invisible in your scene and use that as the jump pad trigger instead of the jump pad itself.

Well done!

I also really like the concept of this game. I'm a fan of being able to set up your own stage and let the characters respond to things you've placed in their environment. I also use the construct 3 engine, so I can certainly appreciate the work you put in. I think I would like to see this improved upon even more, because it could definitely be something really fun! I did have an issue where my character got stuck between a wall and I had to reload the game.

Nicely done.

I like the steam punk style on pretty much any game. This was a cool idea. 3D platformers are sometimes hard to get into just because of the controls. I enjoyed the game and kept wanting to try again when I would fall because I KNEW I could make it the next time. The acceleration may be a bit high on the player and sometimes when I felt like I should have been able to jump, it didn't respond.

But it was fun to play for a bit and it kept me wanting to get better each time, which I did!

Doors of Many is a  game about survival and uncovering a dark mystery. What was meant to be a chance of a lifetime experience on one of the worlds greatest game shows has turned into a nightmare you must escape. Once you discover all of the mysterious letters, you will have a choice to make. Which one will you choose?

Welcome to Doors of Many. The greatest gameshow in the world.

I love wheel of fortune and this is definitely a great adaptation of it. I wish there was a way you could skip the turn cycle (animations ect)  for the other players and just get to your turn again. The AI was nice, it was good to not have to read anything.

The game was really cool and I love the color pallet. I ended up having to stop because I was getting a headache due to the moving background and the speed that the character moves. It was challenging but it kept me wanting to come back for more and to try again!

I like how you were able to take a simple cube on some platforms and create a narrative around him. I truly wanted the droid to make it and not become deactivated. I did not finish the game however because it began to make me sick due to the camera effect. The camera effect is a cool idea, I just couldn't keep staring at it. It was challenging and it made me want to try again when I would fail. The jumping I feel could be improved. Maybe faster acceleration on the jump and higher gravity on the fall.

The idea of this game is really cool. Taking a game that already exists and put a twist on it. I knew what I was doing fairly quickly. The music was great, I enjoyed listening to it. The sounds of the horde did get extremely annoying though.  I feel that it may have been a little too difficult, maybe have a couple of different difficulty settings where fewer horde members spawn.

It was a lot of fun to play.

Pros:

- It was fun to play, I kept wanting to get back in there and get revenge every time I died

- The high score is nice, it feels good to try to beat your high score

- The movement of the character was very responsive and the slingshot mechanic felt good to use

Cons:

- It was really difficult really quick and there wasn't really anything I could do about it at one point, you kind of just start getting bullied by AI after a few levels

- Some music would have been a great touch

Lot of fun!

This was a really fun game. I have really enjoyed the idea of games within a game and you do this extremely well. You did a great job keeping within the theme but also giving it quite a twist.  The art is done extremely well. I think you could have a couple of different game modes increasing the difficulty and perhaps reducing the time of the challenger when a harder mode is selected.

Well done!

This was pretty unique. I thought it was a great. As another person said, telling a story through a basic word game is pretty awesome. The art style is also well done, I can tell a lot of time was put into it.

I thought it was a really good idea. You took a tower defense game and made it a "deadly" gameshow. I enjoyed being able to place my obstacles and traps in various areas. I did feel like at times though the timer was too long and I found myself just sitting there watching the same thing happen until time ran out.

But I love the idea, it was engaging for a couple of levels and I think if maybe I didn't have issues with placing the objects sometimes and the controls were a little smoother/more responsive, it would have been twice as engaging.

Well done!

Really awesome job. I had  lot of fun and didn't run into any issues. The punches that come at you were so annoying but it provided a major challenge!

What a great game! You put a lot of work into this. The art is fantastic, things are simply made, you didn't try to do too much. It's really well polished. I didn't run into any issues. I loved the different mini games and the overall goal of the game. A game within a game.

The art is extremely well done. The jumping feels really good. The animations help the controls feel even better. The game is also very fun, it keeps you hitting space bar to go back to the start every time.

I think maybe some checkpoints after really difficult areas would be a nice touch, but I'm also terrible at platformers.

Awesome job!

Thank you for the feedback!

The lever in the "Danger Room" unlocks the doors so you can progress to the next room. So doors 1 and 3 are the same as 2 and 4, the rooms are randomized, so it's possible that you can reload the same room which may make it appear the doors don't work.

In hindsight I would re-do this so that you can't enter the same room consecutively.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I'm definitely looking forward to what I'll learn from it. The constructive feedback will be really helpful.

This is my first Jam. My game is going to suck, but I'm extremely excited.

I'm a Java developer for my day job, so I really look forward to the more creative side of game dev in my spare time. I've dabbled in game dev for about a year or so, but haven't really put as much attention to it as I have over the past week.

Good luck everyone!

Love it! Would definitely enjoy it more if I had a game pad. Good work.

Hi there Hyve,

I've been in game for roughly 5 minutes. I just wanted to give you my first impressions.

The bad:

1. You've already addressed that you should have added a guide for some basic controls

2. The main character feels really "heavy". That's the best way I know how to explain it. It's not unresponsive, it's just "heavy". Does that make sense?

3. The main character just doesn't feel like he fits into the world. But that may just be me.

The good:

1. Music is fantastic

2. Sound effects are great

3. Love the visuals and the world (aside from the main character model)

4. The zone pop ups when you go into a new area are great, love that in games.

5. Also love that a compass was implemented!

Good work, keep it rolling!
