Managed to nuke myself, which i consider to be top-tier gameplay.
The art looks great and it's very fun watching the particles go around. It took me a while to figure out how to generate power, I had assumed it was by generating heat to drive a steam turbine, like in real life.
Yeah, we had some problems with the temperature mechanic so we had to shuffle some things around last minute, hence why the instructions were so vague. I'm glad you took the time to figure it out and enjoyed it though!
One crucial bit of information that I think should have been in the notebook was the tip that particles hitting the edges is what causes temperature to rise. I appreciate that you added it to the description. Once I understood that, the game became a lot easier. I can't say that I totally understood what I was doing, but once I worked out a vague strategy, I definitely felt myself getting greedy while watching the temperature bar in anticipation. I think this game ended up being way more fun than I initially expected. Excellent presentation as well!
Really cool aesthetics. I had a lot of fun colliding the molecules.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Did get it on the second try after reading the manual. It's fun to find the right tradeoff between energy production and not overheating! :)
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Looks very polished. I liked the interface where you start. Didn't grasp what immediately what I was supposed to do.
I hope you enjoyed playing and thanks for the feedback! I agree the game could do with a bit more guidance at the beginning to help lead you through things.
Neat idea, I liked the music and watching the molecules zing around! I wasn’t quite sure what the heat meter did, at one point I had two bars, added maybe three molecules and the whole thing went kaboom!
I'm glad you enjoyed the game! The temperature mechanic was added very close to the deadline, so we didn't have much time to balance the values and I think I made it too sensitive. Still, can't be too careful when experimenting with dangerous particles :P
I love the idea, I think you fit the combine theme well. The pixel art is very good, and I also love the music. The name is also great, I assume it's a play on words with a Mole in chemistry. I love the simplicity of the 3d models for the molecules and different colors. Good job. Game over screen also gave me a good chuckle. Criticism: The tutorial text is impossible to read. The game did freeze on me once. I also think you should increase the maximum temperature, it's fun just adding molecules and seeing things go crazy. Some particle effects for combining would have also gone a long way.
Thanks for all the praise, and I'm glad you enjoyed our game! The tutorial was added last minute in a rush, so apologies for that! Particle effects are definitely something I've considered adding if I continue work on this game after the jam. Also, if you just want to have fun combining molecules then you can press "G" for god mode which removes the time, power, and temperature limits! Enjoy!
Awesome!
Really cool game. I love trying to maintain balance between power generation and heat. The menu presentation is also pretty neat, with the things lighting up on hover. What's your best score? I got to 6.5K
I never really got a chance to playtest it but I think my highscore is around 5K, though my sister managed to hit 8.8K in one of her attempts! I would definitely like to add some kind of scoreboard mechanic to the game in the future so you can try beat your highscore, or have the days progress with the target getting slightly higher each day! Thanks!
Feels like finished game. I guess you should always read the manual before playing around with dangerous science. Hopefully they’re more responsible in CERN :)
Thanks for playing, I hope you enjoyed it! :)
