Great game! Very interesting to try out different things and try to come up with different spells; I found the embiggenning spell and it was fun to use, great job!

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind words! The embiggening spell is one of the best for sure, also breaks the game the most haha! Glad you had fun!!

For a game that was only made in a short time, this was surprisingly fleshed out! Good job!

Developer

Thanks!!! We're pretty happy with how it turned out, though obviously we had a ton of ideas that didn't make it into the game.

Love the experimenting, I was quite engaged in tinkering with different effects!

Process could be a bit smoother though - now for every experiment there are a lot of steps - open book, edit, close, pickup, use, put it down again, place it on stand for better view, open again.
(Figured out you don't actually have to pickup the spellbook to use it - can just open, edit, close and cast! Maybe this should be the default instructions, with pickup being optional?)

Thank you for the game, had fun with it!

P.S. In windows build, character is constantly jumping, no way to stop it.

Developer(+1)

Hmmm not sure what happened in the windows build for you, sorry you had that experience. For what it's worth it seems to work on my end.

Thanks for the kind words! The main problem with casting the spell without holding it is that if you have a projectile it's hard to see the results cause you're holding the book in front of your face! You're definitely right that the process could be smoother and clearer. Obviously chalk it up to limited time, great points if we ever do a V2 though!

rough around the edges, but a great concept and a fun time

Developer

We do the best with the time we got lol. Glad you had fun!

Baha very chaotic and fun! Looks gorgeous as well. How many spells are in the game currently ?

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for the kind words, I almost don't want to ruin the mystery with how few spells there actually are hahah! But there are a lot more if you count combinations!

Submitted(+1)

Ehe yeah that's fair. The combination spells are a fun addition ^-^

Amazing work! Really enjoyed it, would love to see more of it in the future

Developer

That's so kind of you! We really enjoyed making it!

super fun concept with some crazy mechanics that quickly get out of hand, I had lots of fun messing around! The physics me of my submission haha. Might want to clamp the camera looking tho cuz first thing I did was accidentally end up looking upside down

Developer

Yeah haha the camera was just another hole that never got plugged, just not high on the priority list. It's fun to do the old "leave the bugs in" thing you can do with game jams and not get absolutely roasted. Glad you had fun!

I also really enjoy the concept that discovering how to make certain effects like levitate can organically lead you to be able to access more parts of the tower, in a more complete version with more time to develop there could be cool things to find in those areas like little trophies and such. In that same sort of idea I wish I could climb up stacks of enlarged books but you just slide off of them.

Developer

Yes! We had so many ideas that we had to cut. Being able to climb the books is a good idea! I do feel like this game has so much potential ideas and ways to go. Hope you had fun with what we got done!

Submitted(+1)

this is a really cool idea and it seems like there's lots to unlock but I didn't really understand how to gain progress. It also would've been really helpful to have a log of spell effects I've already discovered like Skyrim potion making, that way you can actually theorize what combining certain effects might do, the way it is now I kind of just spammed glyphs until I unlocked something.

Developer

Yeahhhhh. Definitely if we were going to do this idea as a full game you'd have a history of all the spells you've made. It kinda becomes just cast a random spell simulator sometimes because it's hard to keep track of. Hope you still had fun anyway!
