Incredible game !!! Very cool ! Good job :)
Awesome how well this was made in 12 days. The shift and run mechanic feels a bit useless at times since your put inside a cramped area with a ranged weapon. The sfx and visuals are god tier and matched the theme.
Overall, very impressive jam entry

For 12 days, that's insane haha. Fun game, awesome visuals. The bishops are insane though and forced me to change my strategy of using shift, to just jump and back up. I think the Sniper Rifle was kinda useless, and I stuck with using a shotgun throughout the game until I achieved the Rocket Launcher and Auto Gun. Very good game!

Yeah i realized a bit too late that having a sniper is kinda useless when you cant gain much distance lol.
It's a pretty hard game, but fun either way! Despite Queens being the most powerful piece in Chess, they didn't feel as powerful in this game compared to the Bishops, and I think it's cause of the Bishop's speed and frequency to charge/alternate course. Also Bishop hits constantly forced me off the stage numerous times, and at one point sent me flying on top of a pillar to cheese them.
If I may suggest some things I thought of during gameplay, I think the lower used weapons would be more relevant if I could see a reticle to aim with, and possibly upgrade throughout the game. Sniper Rifle would be very good if the bullet traveled faster, allowing players to instantly kill some pieces if they knew their placements. I also think weapon switching if it was faster, would allow maybe a weapon diversity, and add a sense of a faster pace of gameplay like Eternal.

What a game! the graphics and art used are very nice, and fit the theme well. Sounds and music are really nice too! Though it gets really hard with the first bossfight, the knights were too fast to dodge, and didn't really gave me a chance :(.

Thank you! Yeah I'm sorry i made it so hard. i was crunching a lot on level design and really overdid it. I mostly just tested individual arenas and now i'm trying to beatthe full thing myself and struggling. Its a shame though because the game has 5 areas and the knights are only the end of the first. If you feel like trying again, the knights can be kind of cheesed if you hide behind the spike pits, since they cant jump over it. Also since its so easy to fall off there is a hidden mechanic that lets you climb back up the platform for a split second if you push against it mid fall.
Hmm, will definitely try that strategy! I also crunched a little with my game though, so no need to worry! The toughness of it can also be a nice feature to have!
Nice game, i liked how you polished the game, but it is really really hard to play. It's not just because of huge amount of enemies but also because you can't understand whats happening, you try to shoot and dodje and you get in abyss, maybe for first levels you could make platforms with walls. But overall it's a great game, like it)
