I sure enjoy a good platformer! The controls feel pretty good, the music slaps and the art is great!
My only little complaint is that I think dying is a bit too punishing since it takes quite some time to respawn the player and it does so at the very beginning of the level. It can be a bit frustrating to me, but aside from that, I think the game is really good!
Thanks glad you liked it! I think we did make the levels too difficult. Since a new player doesn't have a full understanding of the mechanics and how they work. Should have expected that but I'm pretty happy with what we made here. Definitely need to work on designing my games with a better difficulty curve. Appreciate the kind words!
Really well polished platforming mechanics, well done. I like the art style as well. I do not see the benefit of the looping mechanic here, and it seems to just add frustration for me. Increasing the time between attempts at a platforming challenge does not increase the challenge at all, but does make me dread failing. Overall great entry.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah the theme could've used some more work. We were having trouble actually figuring out what exactly we wanted the game to be. We were trying to make the game as difficult as we could. I find satisfaction in games like that only if it's fair of course. But I see now that for a jam like this easier levels towards the beginning and maybe 1 hard level. Would've been better for us. I hope that you found it to be fair at least. Appreciate it!
I found it fair since you are setting and meeting expectations well, nothing unexpected happens and nothing happens to cause my failures that isnt’t my fault. I would just prefer a less punishing secondary loop. The structure and mechanics seem very similar to Celeste other than the checkpoints are further apart.
I think the controls did not respond well 100% of the time but otherwise the game was very good.
Sorry can you be more specific! I'm not seeing that on my end.
maybe it's because of my pc, or perception, but the rest of the game is super good.
Thanks! Yeah could be an fps issue. I did make the game mainly in 144 fps and tested it off and on around 60 fps. But anything under that doesn't feel as good.
It's a pity that the floating controls of the character spoil the game experience a bit which is nice. Good work anyway !
What would you change about the controls? Is it the jumping, movement, dashing that feel floaty? This problem could have something to do with framerate. If you feel like you are getting low fps then that may be the issue. I appreciate the feedback though!
Frustrating in a fun way :D The controls were really nice and the artworks, sounds and music made it a well rounded experience. You should really think about changing the keys though, as SkyLike said. For people with a QWERTZ keyboard layout, pressing Z and X is a nightmare
Oh, now I know what you mean. Yeah, That doesn't seem like much fun. I'll definitely think about that in the future. Thanks for feedback! I'm happy that you liked it though!
Interesting choice for the keys. It was unusual for me to jump with X , dash with Z and move with keys and because of that i couldn't finish the game. But over all great job
Thanks for the feedback! You think flipping the input for jump and dash would’ve worked better?
Sorry didn't realize you have a different keyboard layout. The z and x buttons are right next to each other for me. Yeah we should've added separate control types for different playstyles.
