I liked this take on the theme. Originally, I tried to get through it without killing any enemies (making the boss easier), but found that I had to carefully pick and choose which ones to take out. I liked the fish-eye look to it too. I thought the art was well done and animated, and the sound and music supported the atmosphere you've created.
Great work!
Cool top down shooter with over the top post processing.
Theme:
Less shields, more crystals? I think that is how the theme tied in!
Visuals:
The sprite work was very well done and consistent. The post processing was very cool, but maybe just a little to over the top. Still a very nice additional to the game. Enemies did look a little off in some instances, so a loss of consistency there. I thought the little detail of blood showing up on the spikes when hitting them was a nice touch!
Innovation:
This was a solid top down shooter, however there are hundreds of top down shooters in the jam with pretty effects as well. The grappling hook was cool, but not integral to the completion of the game. I really feel like you could have focused on that to make it the main "HOOK" of your game. to differentiate yourself from the rest.
Sounds/Music:
The sounds were very well done with little complaint from my end. The music however became repetitive. This is typical with looped tracks, and for a jam it is perfectly fine, but any longer experience would have been droning and would have made me just quit the game.
Overall:
This was a very solid top down 2D shooter with interesting dialogue, and large scale boss fights. It had a fun and over the top post processing effect that made it visually pop. The only major complaint was the game lacked a hook to grab the users attention beyond the first level. Forcing the player to use the grappling hook for more could have helped make this game stand out amongst the rest! Still worth a play though in my opinion!
I streamed it here, starts at minute 6:
The artist here! Thanks for streaming our game and the more enemies you kill the stronger the boss is
Ahhh, okay! that makes sense! Thanks for clarifying. That is a cool take on the theme. And cool art! The only thing I thought was worth mentioning was some of the monsters didn't feel tied into the world, But then again you really didn't have time to introduce them gradually or anything like that.
the post processing effects were very well done, the game was very fun, I loved the finally boss.
Damnnnnn! That 3D effect combined with bloom was so amazing!!! And the pixel art was so clean and crisp. I just loved your game so so much. It was amazing and at the end of it all, you also managed to make a Boss fight. Great work! Thanks for this amazing game!
Please consider playing and rating my game too. I would really appreciate that! Thanks!!
Thanks! Im working hard to improve my pixel art skills and that means alot sadly I cant rate your game since this was a collab project but ill %100 check it out
i like the idea and the art i was just skipping all combat great job
for me grapple is the best thing here, better give me lower cooldown and more thing to grab XD
but this game is good, I enjoyed it.
Really fun game! The art and sound was great, and the post processing made it feel like I was playing on my old CRT. The character movement was awesome and I was surprised how much you were able to make in the short time of a week with all the different enemies and boss battles.
A couple suggestions, I think the boss battles would benefit if the boss projected was his next attack was going to be. For example, on the fire attacks have a little sprite shoot out in the direction he will attack that doesn't do damage. This gives the player the opportunity to react and they should always feel in control. There were also times where I was taking damage during boss battles and didn't know where it was coming from, again this may just be a visibility thing for the player.
Overall awesome game, great job!
Thank you very much for your feedback!
We'll keep your suggestions in mind. :)
Dang you managed a boss fight and everything? The 3d effect with the camera was super cool really liked that and the sprite work. Nice job!
Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked it.
Hey fun game! i loved the visuals
Positive
i really liked the theme interpetation! and the gameplay was fun to just play with
grapple was really fun
Negative
i had a bug that made my play nonstop move down which kinda ruined it for me!
you went a bit too wild with lens distortion but still looks nice!
mind playing my game?
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Sure, I'll try out your game after I'm done with today's classes :')
the post processing was so excessive and yet I loved the look xD. Gameplay was solid as well, good job
A nice compliment from the developer of a really nice game, we'll take it. :')
Awesome! i have nothing bad to say about the game! although there is a preference thing i have with the game. I think the post processing is way to extreme! other than that this game is really fun!
Thank you!
Fun game. I really like it. But im not huge fan of a lot post process effects. Sounds/Music was nice!
We'll take that into consideration next time. Thanks :)
it has cacodemons
5/5
LOL
of course
I really like the post-processing effect. Nice game!
Cool way to make a 2D game feel more spherical. I know I was fighting demons but I couldn't stop seeing humanoid pandas on the first level. :)
hahahahahaha yeah they get mistaken for pandas a lot.
Very fun! I died 2 times before understand XD
Nice idea ^^
I'm glad you liked it :)
