Really solid game for you first jam. (way better than my first jam).

I found the combat was either spam click and rush at the enemy or die, there wasn't much strategie to it. Other than that, the game was great.

Really cool concept. Reminds me of Graymalkin from X-Men. I would suggest more feedback for combat. I never knew if I was damaging the enemy or I myself was being damaged.

This was a lovely game with good interpretation of the theme.

But, I encountered slow downs without any reason (I am not talking about the lights), also some collision bugs which I had to jump to be able to move again.

It is also a shame that I have to rate this lower cause of lack of any sound at all.

Developer

Yeah everyone is telling me about sound, now I wish I did.

Nice game, however, there should be some music, sound and better gameplay. Also, I would love It if you would play my game.

the game wasn't enjoyable to play much, the mechanic felt kinda... not very interesting. i don't think this was a very good idea. it's a little complicated and just... outright not fun. however please don't be discouraged by this. everyone gets not the best ideas sometimes and i'm sure you'll come up with something much more fun and everyone struggles with coming up with fun mechanics, so please keep on trying and i'm sure you'll eventually end on a very enjoyable game mechanic

i will also say that the game feels very empty without any sound design, so that's something to take into account for next time.

as for good things i can say about the game: gosh it looks very pretty. how did you create a lighting effect like that in 2d?! please teach me!

Developer

What part did you not like? Was it just a bit generic?

Also I used Unity's URP 2D lighting and bloom.

yeah both generic and a little too complicated for not having enough payoff so to say

and ahh thank you ^^

Developer

OK that makes sense. Thanks for the feed back.

The art is amazing! My only problem is that they game needs more music and sounds as it feels empty without them.

Really cool idea with the light slowing you down. Reminds me of the Alan Wake games but reverse, you're the baddie in the dark. The game had a really fun puzzle aspect to it. I did notice that the player can get hurt very easily, maybe the hitbox might be too big. Also, the health bar flips horizontally with the player and it's a bit jarring especially when you have low health and it keeps switching sides. Otherwise great work! Keep it up!

Good point. I never even noticed the health bar bug.

To make the game more interesting, you could implement new mechanics as you advance. The light mechanic seems interesting, but it won't save the game by itself. I'm guessing you didn't have enough time, after all, it's a gamejam.

The atmosphere was pretty well captured, and the sprites were nice. The only thing I would say is that the jumping animation should be quicker at the beginning, because it feels like it's reacting too late, and you probably want your players to feel total control of the character.

Developer

Yeah, thanks for the feedback.

I liked it! The sprites are really nice, and the use of 2D lights really helps set the atmosphere. Your interpretation of the theme is very similar to mine.

Developer

I loved your game. You are right about our themes being similar, but I think you did a better job. Well done!
