How did you/your team interpret the theme?
Concept for the game came from a idea that you sacrifice your childrens to wolves so that you and your spoons can survive!

How was your/your team's experience in this jam?
Pretty good. I got lots of ideas how I could expand this game. I'm thinking of making this in to full blown game. Would you be interested in that?

Very atmospheric game, sound and art are very good, I also like the concept! Good Job!

Great game, I like the concept and the atmosphere! The music and the overall design worked so well together that I totally felt that depressing burden. The gameplay is simple but somehow addictive, it took me a few tries to find a way that worked relatively good for me but then one night the wolves got me (again) :D But the pixel art and the animations are so amazing that I couldn't even be mad at them :) Overall you did a great job, I had a good time with your game! I have read that you plan to further expand it, I see a lot of potential here and I think you should definitely go for it :)

Thank you for your kind words!

I'm still working on figuring out the scope and such for this project, but in a mean time I've drawn some new assets. Today I started implementing robber mechanic:

Oh wow that looks super amazing :D I am looking forward to further updates! But please don't push yourself too hard, I totally get it that it's not easy to figure out the scope and all that work that has to be done. Having fun should always be priority number one and your game is already great :)

I like the concept and the look and feel, it reminds me of those old DOS games on early game develop stages.

It's a little hard to understand how it works and looks like the economy works randomly and it make it hard to beat, because there is no way to know how the market will fluctuate, also wolves are on later stages unbeatables because you don't have more than 12 stones.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback!

How much stuff you can put in your wagon is based on the weight of the item, so you can actually take up to 20 rocks if you don't have anything else in it. But you can use anything you have as a weapon. I recommend using food for small packs!

Submitted(+1)

I noticed that detail about the weight, the point is the rocks are heavier than anything and food is very expensive to throw at hungry wolves. I'm looking you are going further and keep developing! That's pretty cool i think this game has a lot of potential.

Developer

Thanks! Yeah weight and prices will take some playtesting to get the balance right. This jam proto gives me a good idea how to start tweaking them.

Have to agree it's a solid resource management game. The visuals, UI, and music all come together very cohesively! I still can't survive a wolf attack.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

In hindsight I should have made the wolf scene easier. Cumulative difficulty was on my to do list, but didn't have time to implement it.

All in all a pretty solid resource management game! Really enjoyed the background art at the top of the screen, reminded me of old snes games!

Thank you for playing!

your game is a really nice resource management game, but I still don't understand why storing money is an option

Developer (1 edit)

I have an idea to add highway robbers to the game as an random encounter. In that regards it would make sense to not have all your money with you at all times.

But that's not in the game so for this entry, it's true that it doesn't make sense! :D

Thanks for playing!

I enjoyed your game quite a bit. A really good resource management game with a bit of a challenging action sequence every now and then. I spent time tracking highs / lows to try and figure out when it would be good to sell spoons / buy supplies and food.

The art, music, and sound effects are wonderful.

Thanks for playing!

Firstly, I really loved the art in this! it was so atmospheric  the consistency was great. I will be honest, I'm not totally sure where not being the hero comes into play, but i still think the game itself is really cool. My biggest peice of feedback would be an always accessible instructions page or something like that, because it was kind of confusing, but it still was fun! Great Job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Even though using using a very limited palette (13 colors total with most of them being different shades of grey) was a challenge from time to time, it helped with consistency and mood of the game. I agree that "not being the hero" part was tiny in the end, but it still was THE thing that inspired to make the game (try tossing a human to wolves).

Didn't have time to add in-game tutorial for this entry. I wrote down some instructions and tips on game page. Thanks for feedback!
