How does your game fit the theme?
The game takes place underwater, and the levels are uniquely structured in that they all involve the player diving deeper into a vertical level. Even the few platformers that are vertically oriented, such as Kid Icarus, typically involve climbing upward. The downward-movement-oriented structure of Scuba Blaster presents a unique challenge to both the designer and to players.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
All of the code and assets were made by me, but the basic platformer outline (movement and physics) was created a bit before the Jam for other purposes.

Cool and polished, simple little platformer :) Really liked it.
This game is pretty awesome, for only being a demo. It looked, sounded and felt like something I would have played as a kid in the early 90s on the old IBM DOS PC.
The pixel art is all very nice, I especially like the little diver dude. The moving and shooting both felt very good and responsive.
I would have liked to have seen some powerups or upgrades or additional weapons, as some of the later areas filled with protected blaster enemies were a little difficult to get through, so a shield or health upgrade could have been nice to have.
I did make it all the way to the end and grab the black and white orb, so it wasn't impossibly difficult.
Awesome game, dude. Also respect the totally righteous guitar licks as I played this most excellent adventure.
There actually are some powerups! One is a shield, and the other two are alternate weapons. You'll automatically get one if you manage to collect 60 shinies, which is a bit of a tall order. I might make the requirements for getting those powerups different if this ever becomes a full game.
A great and fun game! It would be more approachable if the control guide were mentioned in the game, but good job on this!
This one was amazing! Everything from the artstyle, to level design, to audio was really well made! Game was super fun to play and enjoyable. I absolutely loved the enemy variety here, they all feel very distinct from each other and force the player to keep on their toes. The only small nit pick is that it took me a bit to figure out the controls, but that could be easily fixed by just making that more explicit on your page. Incredible job!
It took me a minute to figure out that I could shoot. But that's on me for not reading the store page. Great level design and art. Those fish are out for blood.
Really great game! The controls were tight and responsive and the artstyle looked amazing, a short and sweet experience. Minor nitpicks would be that sometimes enemies had to be taken out shooting while jumping and the controls dont really lend themselves to that. You kept the platforming fresh throughout the entire game, the high enemy count toward the end made me rush through most of it sadly ':)
Good game, great retro sound effects, maybe a bit too many enemies in the later parts but overall very fun!
I really liked this one! I enjoyed the art and the retro sound effects. The gameplay does have that NES game feel being a simple run and gun game. Even though there was only one level, I still thought there was a good variety of enemies and mechanics. I also thought it felt challenging without being too difficult like some old school games could be. It all felt quite polished.
I definitely would like to see this one expanded on with more levels. Nice job!
I like the way how the game uses the theme. Should've mentioned the controls inside the game.
