Cool game, I really liked the soundtrack, it fits the gameplay perfectly, and the idea that the game gets more difficult the deeper you go, it would be more interesting if you had to climb back after you found the treasure chest, and if there were new enemies deeper.

Good Luck!)

Thanks for playing!

The musics are from the album "Solar Echoes" by Nigel John Stanford

Check it out if you like the musics, it's suuuuuuuuuuuuper great!

And yes I was thinking about have the player also collect some resources like oxygen for them to climb back on but really ran out of time xD

The game doesn't really force you out of the bottom space unless the red creatures spawn below you. Maybe you could add some fish that travel vertically. That could help out the dynamic.

The lighting is also really cool, especially when you start playing and the water gets illuminated. It looks nice!

Personally I had performance problems. The game ran around 15 fps. Of course Unreal is quite demanding but there should be a way to tweak it. Overall as a first project in Unreal it's not bad.  Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing!  That's a great advice to have creatures moving in more different patterns! And yeah I feel the lighting is relatively easy to set up comparing to Unity.

I'll definitely pay attention on the performance settings next time, 15pfs is just unacceptable as such a small game xD!

from switching to unreal this is pretty good, but the one thing i found was that the sub's movement feels a little clunky at the bottom because of the speed decrease. i'm guessing this is to make it harder near the bottom but i think you should have made it so more eniemies spawn rather than making it that slow. Anyways great game!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah I feel the game play is kind of weird. I was thinking about to make the scene darker as the player diving deeper, and have some light source energy as a collectible for the player to collect, and use them to light the scene in the dark deep sea. If they don't have enough light source then the vision will be very limited and they won't able to see the creatures clearly, so it's more challenging  to dodge them, but the time really ran out and the creates themselves don't work that well ;p.

Developer

WASD to moving around.

Red-colored creatures will do damage and the one little green-colored creature (it's a dolphin :p) will heal.

Mission is to dive 1000m under the sea and retrieve the treasure box.

Diving speed will slow down as you dive deeper.

Sorry didn't have  time to add replay button and quit button etc...

I'm switching from Unity to Unreal, this is my first Unreal game jam project, the shaders kind of broken...

Thanks for playing in advance!
