How does the game fit the theme?
It's about a guy, who was sent to go shopping, by his mom, but it turned out to be a black friday and now he has to fight for his life. Player is forced to exchange one of his items each round, which forces him to not only hope for a lucky item, but also for a easy opponent in upcoming fight.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
None, unless presets for keys for the simple soundtrack count.

How many people worked on the game?

You seem to have placed a great effort in the weaponry. The pixel art looks great. 7 days to make a game IS a crunch, but you have a cool idea and you can expand on it after the jam :)

  • As others said, add helper UIs in-game or add a tutorial scene to help players understand the mechanics.
  • Your game page tells a story so a bit of dialogue can make the game interesting as well (e.g. "This is mine!", "Back off!", "Take that! No.. That's mine. Give it back!")
Developer

Thanks, dialogues would really make it feel better. I will work on those things for sure.

I love the artwork, you did a great job! The game was confusing until I went back and saw your notes about what things did. Fun game.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, i know it's confusing, i was running low on time so not everything was implemented.

The struggle is real for all of us, lol. I had several things that just didn't make the cut, but I had fun trying it out.

I wish I had an intro and some tutorial :) I am missing that part :D I was not sure, and I started pressing the buttons of the enemy trying to steal my precious goods at the store ahah

The concept is nice, :D I was expecting things to go bad! Keep improving it!

Thanks, it will definitly have it after jam is over, i have to change some things so it's more user friendly.

Nice one and a little tutorial would be beneficial in order to get onboard easily but good job.

Nice artwork, really liked the art style.  A little bit confusing but a really nice game.

Developer(+1)

I agree, it's confusing lol, will have to work on that afterwards.

Was rather confused and didn't know how the fighting worked. I knew pressing the food item threw it but between the other buttons on the right side I wasn't sure what was happening

Developer

Oh yeah, it definitly lacks a tutorial and those buttons on the right side, are ai buttons, didn't really manage to make use of them, there were supposed to show to player which items does his enemy have on cooldown.

This game looks super nice and polished! The idea is fun and unique.  It was a bit confusing what to do, but I think it could be a pretty cool game with some UI helpers as others have mentioned.

I played while guessing the function of the item, and finally won the second round after 300 rounds of fighting with the opposite party XD
Really fun game to play; it has the potential!

Developer

Thanks glad you like it, i left descriptions of items on bottom of the page, didn't have time to put them ingame.

The visuals look pretty good.

Awesome game! would be nicer if there was text representation of what the special effects were, everything else was decent!

Developer

Thanks. I know it's a thing that was meant to be done, but time said otherwise.

Interesting idea, I think it would benefit from more tutorials as there is a lot of content but I wasn't really sure what any of it did or how the game worked.

Developer

Yeah i agree there was supposed to be a interaction window showing details, but i guess i can just leave items descriptions on the game site.

Submitted

Yeah for sure, I think it's kinda hard to play without it so adding to description would be a good idea
