How does the game fit the theme?
We decided to take the theme in the more ridiculous sense, where "Nothing" "can" go wrong, after all, Agent Noffin is running on a tight schedule if he wants to make it to his wedding on time.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I made all the code from scratch.
My artist Dariel made all the art from scratch.
We both made the SFXs from scratch.

How many people worked on the game?

Liked the comic theme in the beginning. Really short. Would've appreciated the artwork better in the levels if the camera was just a bit closer. Still nice game. It's nice that there's a plot in the game

Love the little comic bits, I just thought the controls were a bit off, it helped a lot realizing I had to hold the key down to stay stationary in the wall jump. It's short and sweet, and while I think there could've been more challenges, it was still really cool!

Ha ha, comic intro cutscenes, it is a rare sight and no one seems to do that these days. I guess it's understandable as time is never enough in a jam, but it's still nice to see one regardless. The game is fast-paced which I really enjoy, and the story is funny too. The controls are very floaty and hard to control, and paired with the short time limit the game is truly challenging. Not that I am complaining. Good job!

There is an obvious bit that I would want to raise is that there should be more sound effects to indicate stuff, like jumping, damaging etc, and that would make the experience much better.

Anyway, you've done a nice job! Keep up the good work!

Yea, they are great

I'm happy to see your game also has an intro cutscene. There are not many of us.

Developer

I agree. Thanks for playing :)

I love the premise and the cute drawings, it's quite funny. The controls felt a bit floaty but other than that I liked it a lot. Nice job!

Hey all, I have just uploaded an updated, fixing 2 issues. The retry button not working, and an issue that nobody had found.
Retry button should work now!

Great game!

The pixel art and music are great! The game idea is also very good! I loved the comic-style introduction at the start.

Though, I do have some things that I would change. I don't know if it's just me, but the retry button does not work. I would also change some UI elements. For example, I would give the music/FX bar a more pixelated look because the options menu doesn't seem to match the rest of the game.

But overall, great game! This has great potential

Hey, thanks for the feedback! The retry button issue has been fixed now :)

Hey, this is very nice game!

What I loved:

  • The pixel art is absolutely stunning! The main screen immediately drew me in with its vibrant visuals and awesome 8-bit music. It sets the tone perfectly for a retro-inspired adventure.
  • The comic-style story screens are a standout feature. The art is gorgeous, and the storytelling through visuals alone is creative and immersive. While I didn’t fully understand the story, it feels like it’s just a text explanation away from being perfect. Adding some dialogue or captions could elevate this part of the game even further.
  • The level design in the platformer section is well thought out. It’s clear that a lot of effort went into creating challenging and interesting layouts.

Areas for improvement:

  • The platformer controls feel a bit junky, which makes the already high difficulty even more frustrating. Tightening up the controls would make the gameplay much more enjoyable.
  • The retry button not working was a bit of a letdown, especially in such a challenging game. If this was intentional due to the jam theme (“nothing can go wrong”), it’s a clever idea, but it might benefit from some visual or audio cue to make the intent clearer to players.
  • The options menu, while functional, feels a bit bare with its solid color background. Adding some pixel art or design elements to match the rest of the game’s aesthetic would make it feel more cohesive.

Overall: Agent Noffin on a Mission has a lot of potential! The art and music are fantastic, and the comic-style storytelling is a unique and engaging approach. With some polish on the controls, clearer storytelling, and a bit more attention to the options menu, this could be an incredible game. Great work so far, and I’m excited to see where this project goes next!

Hey, thanks a lot for the detailed review!

I am glad that you enjoyed the art and the music. My artist did a fantastic job on the art and I'm glad that I got to work with them.
And thank you for the level design praise! I did indeed spend a good amount of time on the level design. Despite this being my first time designing platformer levels, I am glad the people seem to be enjoying the levels.

I must admit that I struggled a bit to get the control to where I want them. I thought that it would be easier to do the kind of air control I envisioned, however it seems that I must spend some more time on learning in that area.
The retry button not working is actually a bug which I will be fixing soon. It seems that I must've forgot to account for something on the web version. The retry button is working in all cases in the editor.

Glad you enjoyed the game :)
