I don't know what you did with the perspective there but it works! And the movement is so smooth too. My favorite game from this jam so far!

I've got a lot to say about this game.
First of all, great retro visuals, you've nailed that.
The movement and combat are smooth, though I had some major freezes but only when something was loading in.
Music and sound effects are simply beautiful (especially when you enter the second room with lots of creatures and some rock starts playing, hell yeah!)
One thing I don't know if it was intended, but the best strategy to survive is to lure 1 or 2 creatures to you and hold some tight space, when the game looks more like it was made to kill these things by hundreds with no concern for one's safety.
All in all it's a great game and it fits the theme nicely.
Dude this is the most fun I've had playing these games so far. All 5/5 from me. Fun gameplay and nice visuals but the damn sounds are just priceless lol. Convenient little tutorial is a cherry on top. One thing I'm not sure if you intended to do or not is that you can dodge indefinitely which makes just mashing the space button the most efficient way to play. Other than that great job, I hope you make it to the top 1000 or top 100 even!
Presentation is great and the idea has lots of potential. With just 48 hours it's an amazing accomplishment but without a small tutorial the game was very confusing to me. For some reason the heart didn't stick to any of the other rooms so I wasn't able to progress past that. But it should be easy to fix so overall very good game you've got there!
