Hi friends! Once again, great game jam with so many insanely awesome games. But for first time,  I saw dark side of game jaming. This is my review and responses from developer are... something. And now he started replying to my game coments and continue insulting there. Would like to hear your thoughts on this.

This is kinda sad.. I think they might have misunderstood your feedbacks or take it a wrong way.. but still they shouldn't attack others like this..

You can ask the mods in discord for help or advise..

Also, might need to revise your feedbacks too as not everyone can handle it well

Thanks! I really avoid reviewing games I don't like, but just happens that I played and reviewed several games that was first time one developer games, and tall were amazing. Next came thisa one, and I was curious as I saw this:

"Kim "Zeromus" Grönlund: Project-manager, original writer, designer

@austingibb, @nulltree and @RangShada: Programming Luke (@youhui) and @H3AVENLYB0DIE5/antimonyofseers: Art-assets, Luke has also done supplementary writing @IvyRuth: Art-direction/Art-assistant @Lomii and Arthur Hale: Music (most of it isn't even in the finalized build, which is a shame because 'tis really good! TwT)"

And I was expecting something decent at least. And really do not think my review was that harsh. Just to point out, I never gave game 1 star rating. Not once in 3 years jaming so far.
I guess you are right. This is sad.

This is an experience for everyone to grow i guess.. there's many types of people in the world, so its hard to avoid bullies. This is my first jam, so im glad my experience so far is a positive one.

That was fast. Thank you for your effort. What I am now sorry for, is other members of their team got punished too, and they didn't deserve it. But I guess it is hard to make everything fair for everyone. Thanks again, and good luck!
P.S. - your entry rocks!

Ignore them. They are in the wrong for trying to assemble a team of 8 absolute beginners and one semi-experienced dev and expecting them to cooperate smoothly. Not only that they clearly have no chill. They think everyone should way lower their expectations because it’s all those beginners, but actually, we should lower our expectations because we know he isn’t thinking about others when he makes his games.

He also blames everyone on the team except himself in a different comment for his bad game, when he is the one who chose to be in a team with absolute beginners. Pride is cool but when it puts everyone else down it becomes narcissism.

I’ll be playing and rating your game, sorry someone decided to try to bully you.

And Zeromus, if you see this… you can’t change what you’ve done, but you can change what you will do. It’s okay to start small. Hold a door. And another. Help someone pick up something they dropped. Consciously consider. And if you can do that, you can be so much better than you currently are, and you’ll find not just a happier self, but the people around you will be much more friendly.

I wish I could be good as you are with words! Thanks, I am ignorig them, but just felt aweful when they started replying to my game reviews. Can npt agree more with all you have said. But anyway, this was once again amazing game jam and I found so many great ideas and games! And right now I am playing your game and it's awesome and so charming! - as soon as I put nicer tune on radio :)

I don't understand people like that. Someone didn't like your game, they wrote about it, what's wrong with that? They just gave you feedback and wished you luck in your future projects. I didn't see anything negative in your review, some people just don't know how to take criticism properly.

Don't forget that half (if not more) of the participants are teenagers and children. And we know how children react to criticism.

Btw, in overview of this jam was recommended not to form a team of more than four people, as it is difficult to coordinate so many people in one week. However, unfortunately, these recommendations were ignored by this team.

All I can wish for you is to be lenient.

Thank you so much for those words. I trully did not want to offent anyone, but, as you said, some people just don't know how to take criticism properly.

There was, without a doubt, a better way to handle your criticism. We are very passionate about the vision of the game and I think that is what fueled this heated reaction. In essence the game is now more than what we submitted for the game jam. Work is ongoing and even if we got disqualified we love the idea for our game and are continuing to refine it

also to be clear, i don’t condone or agree with any of the comments that were not directly made by me. Cheers

hi all, I am the lead dev on the project. Sorry about all this. I completely agree with Goxie’s criticism of the game. If you want a kind and respectful individual to talk to on this matter I am here to field any questions. Frankly I haven’t gotten involved until this point because I figured it was just a typical heated comment section, but clearly this has turned into more.

Our team is just a little insane to be completely honest with you (myself included). That aside, I want to formally apologize for any pain my team may have caused. Cheers

Hi there, Thank you for stepping in and addressing the situation. I truly appreciate your apology and your willingness to handle this matter respectfully. I’m sorry that your game was disqualified, and I understand how disappointing that can be. However, I felt it was necessary to address the behavior that followed, as it became personal and also affected individuals who took the time to play and review my game. That kind of response comes across as immature and unproductive.

I meant everything I said in my review, and I apologize if it came across as too harsh. My intention was to provide constructive feedback, as I believe that’s how we all learn and grow in this amazing field. I’ve had so many positive experiences with the Brackeys community, and I don’t want this incident to overshadow that.

I’m truly sorry for any part I may have played in this mess, and I wish I could have avoided this situation altogether. That said, I genuinely wish you and your team the best of luck with this project and all your future endeavors. No hard feelings from my side, and I hope we can all move forward positively.

Cheers!
