DevLog #1
I am creating a 3D first person psychological horror game, where you have to explore your environment and find clues to a serial killer, who likes to take an eye as an souvenir from his victims. (Game jam theme, no eye, hole in the head) But everything is not what it seems.
1. I gathered information about my idea. (Google is fantastic!)
A Story of Betrayal and Murder
The ancient Egyptians believed that Osiris was the king of Egypt and that his brother, Set, desired his throne. Through trickery, Set succeeded in murdering his brother and became the new king. Osiris’ wife Isis, however, managed to bring her husband back to life temporarily through magic and became pregnant with Horus.
Osiris went on to become the god of the Underworld and Isis raised Horus on her own. When Horus reached adulthood, he sought to avenge the death of his father. Horus fought Set in a series of battles, and eventually vanquished his uncle. During these struggles, however, he lost one of his eyes. Set had ripped out Horus’ eye, tore it up into six parts and threw it away.
Horus’ lost eye was magically restored by Hathor (often regarded to be the consort of Horus).
A poem to connect to my idea about the game jam theme.
2. I started choosing my assets and importing them into Unity.
3. After import, I created what I love to do. Making the game pretty. (I know, I am working backwards, but as an artistic person, I need to create the look and atmosphere of the game first, to get a feel for the game.)
I will get down now to the nitty gritty of the game and that is the programming. I have several surprises up my sleeve. If you want to have an idea, play my game "My Inner Demon", here at itch.io. (evil grin).
Thank you for reading this post. I will keep you updated to my progress this week.
