Nice game, it gets tricky to get last few blue squares. I loved level designs :)
Thanks! I will add some more levels soon.
Nice and simple! I spent most of the time chasing the ball and trying to push it out of bounds and then it glitched out and disappeared heheheh
Happy you found this bug! Actually, I already knew about it but I didn't have time to fix it :)
Cool style, one idea could be to turn it into more of a puzzle game if you had to complete the level within a certain number of hits from your bat. Perhaps the bat disintegrates a little each time is it hit.
Thanks! I had a similar idea with bricks causing explosions that would harm the bat. Just to add some action and chaos :)
Good attempt especially considering that it was created on weekend only. Could be a bit more chaotic. Maybe a bit more effects or background music. Maybe some 'wow effect' is missing here.
But still it's a fresh look on Pong. At least I haven't seen it before.
p.s. as an idea, I first thought that the ball will destroy black cell if touched, so a player must protect blacks while destroying blues. It might make the game too hard though, but who knows.
Yes, I agree that there is a lot missing. The original idea was to make a dungeon crawler with a bouncing ball, but time was limited. Certainly it would be possible to protect the black bricks but only by reducing the speed of the ball significantly. Then the game might be a bit too slow and boring. Anyway, thanks for the idea!
Could be a little bit more chaotic, good take on pong tho. Sfx and music would have made it better, and the box is a bit glitchy, maybe adjust the collider. Pretty good all things considered!
Thanks! Yes, I agree that more chaos would be fun. I used ZZFX for sound effects. This is a super small sound effects engine, which might not be on par with todays standards in gaming. Music is sadly lacking due to time constraints. The collider is far from perfect, actually it is just a quick hack.
Oh, what beautiful memories. Good job!
Thanks for playing and remembering the good old days.
I like the twist on the original Pong. I think game jams are the perfect moment to try these different approaches. Nice game ^^
Thanks! The game was made in a weekend and is only about 5kb in zipped version. So not much larger than the original Pong!
Thanks! Yes, the link to chaos might be weak, but it is there.
Wikipedia on Chaos theory:
"Small differences in initial conditions, such as those due to errors in measurements or due to rounding errors in numerical computation, can yield widely diverging outcomes for such dynamical systems, rendering long-term prediction of their behavior impossible in general."
It is impossible to fully control and predict the ball behaviour in the game. Therefore it is a chaotic system.
Relaxing block breaking gameplay! Bring my nostalgic memory back when I was a kid and sneak to his pc when my dad aren't home and play some 3d block breaking game. Back then it was really cool.
Also have you ever heard of this cool game, Chaos Variants? you should totally try it out and rate it!

Very nice to hear about other block breaking games. I don't know how original my game is. I just come up with the idea and wanted to test it.
nice take on the blockbreaker/breakout type game! relaxing and no pressure, keep it up!
Thanks for the positive feedback!
