How does you game fit the theme?
it is about a man that is in a world where he is trying to reach "gold" that is not real, there is a fake ending and a Real ending

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I made the code from scratch and used pre-made assets some of which I modified

Beautiful art and a jammin' soundtrack. It made me feel epic as I plummeted to my doom!

Developer

thanks for playing glad you liked it !

Pretty neat ideas getting used here! I thought the concept of gathering the sunflowers to then change the level was a pretty cool design decision.

There were a few odd moments that sort of broke the immersion a bit, for example the arrows always face the player, so if one passes you, it'll turn to face the player which caught me a bit off guard. To fix that, you can simply set the rotation or scale (I'm not sure how you did it) when the arrow is spawned rather than every frame it exists.

Hope that makes sense.

Anyway, overall this was a pretty good submission. Good work!

LOL you noticed the arrows ...  I saw that but it was too late  I struggled with that for a long time trying to fix it in the end i was running out of time . and my son told me " dad just leave it the arrows are "Possessed by the demon scarecrow"

maybe I could  just put this in Start
did you manage to beat the boss ?

Developer(+1)

ok this fixed it  Thanks for your feedback it really helped .

Loved the idea about collecting items and turning them in to reveal the world. I would say the character was a bit floaty, but good stuff!

Developer

I agree that the jump is a bit floaty. I am still working on that finding the perfect player controller like in Celeste , your character jump was spot on for your game which needed that precise  platforming at times, but I did have a little trouble with the wall jump at first but once I got the hang of it  it was awesome .. great game.

I definitely recommend checking these tutorials out from youtube. It's rare to find someone go this in depth. It helped me learn a lot! You could definitely tweak what you learn from this to fit the feeling you want.  https://www.youtube.com/c/Bardent

thanks will do

Wow, the game looks awesome! I love the pixel art and the game idea. Great work!

I just rated your game, maybe you can do the same on mine ^_^

Developer

thanks for playing glad you liked it , your game was funny but I don't think that I trust that man in the black hat ..LOL !!

Thanks for making this game! I really enjoyed playing it. Movement was good. It would have been interesting to see the "fake" platforms or holes in the ground be revealed after falling for them.

Developer (1 edit)

That is a great idea , I was also trying to think of a subtle way to distinguish fake platforms from real ones . thanks for your feedback.

i found the movement to be a little too awkward for me, sometimes i could jump to a plataform and other times i couldn't.

Developer

thanks for your feed back, I am on a quest to create the perfect player controller. like in the game Celeste!

Submitted

cool :) good luck with that

It was a good game. You found an interesting concept and created an easy to follow story to explore it. The player movement could do with a little polishing and the combat system does need some work. Otherwise, a good idea, well-executed.

thanks a lot for playing i have been trying for a while to get a player controller for unity that works like Celeste  i still have  a lot of work to do.

Keep it up! No one expects people to make a perfect game during the Jam. It's what you learn from it and take with you into your next project that's important.

I love that concept of trying to reach something that is not real. Good take on that. I love how the game assets are used and the audio which suits the environment and player type. I am not sure though if the platforms don't have collider or they are part of the theme :) Awesome job.

Developer

thanks for Playing  some of the platforms don't have colliders as part of the theme glad you had fun there are two endings to the game  can you find them  both ?

Submitted

I found one. Gonna try finding the other one hahahahaha

Developer

did you  fight and kill the boss ?
