Hey! Great game! The movement was a bit clunky and it took me a while to figure out what was the key to attack but other than that I had fun playing. The "double jump" power up that kind of "opens" new sections of the game reminds me of Castlevania :) Congrats!
If you can, take a look at our game as well. I'd be glad to get your feedback.
Thank you!
I actually had Castlevania and Metroid in mind when I designed the levels specifically in how they use powerups to let the player reach new areas.
We are currently working on implementing a tutorial/explanation of the controls among other things since some of the controls might not be very intuitive.
Wow, massive props for making a 2D game in Unreal! Unreal is a massive pain when you aren't making a specific type of game, so the fact you were able to do this is super impressive! I can definitely feel Unreal holding you back though, since the player movement and hitboxes end up being a little wonky! But the 2D art you have in the game looks amazing! And I was able to find the hidden frog! I will also mention that 'J' as a keybind for attacking is a little hard to figure out at first! I think most players would lean towards 'F', the left mouse button, or the right mouse button first when trying to figure out how to attack! That being said, this was still a solid gameplay experience, and the amount of work put into it definitely shows! The enemies were creepy, especially with the way they moved and the sounds they made! And getting to the last room is a real gut punch! All in all, amazing work, and great submission!
Thank you so much for your super nice feedback and comments, we're happy to hear you enjoyed it! :D
We'll definitely take your feedback into consideration, we're working on version 2.0 right now! Been planning some revisions of the controls among other things, as well as some fx and other fun stuff :)
Thanks so much again!
The art was really nice but I feel like the 2d and 3d kind of conflicted because of the shading. The concept was really nice and with a bit more polish, this game could be quite nice!
Thanks for the feedback!
Lighting and post-processing is something we have already started working on so hopefully the next version will have a more coherent look.
Nice game and art! :D
Thank you!
Nice game! I want to play with a gamepad.
Thanks for the feedback!
Gamepads should be supported but we will look into improving it
It is a nice concept, and it was fun playing it. I liked the verticality of the levels, but controls were a bit tricky tbh. Of course, there are things you didn't have time to polish, but I think it would be a really fun game if you finished it. :)
Thanks for the feedback!
We are looking to polish the game a bit in the coming weeks and player controls are pretty high up on the list of things we want to improve.
very control heavy game
Thank you for your feedback!
The 2.5d perspective is really interesting and I like the idea of the game. I think having a tutorial would be great, as it took me a while to figure out the controls. And the controls feel a bit too light for me, but other than that good work!
Thanks for checking it out and for your feedback! We're looking to revise our controls a bit and add a tutorial in our next version of the game. Thanks again! :)
I like that the character in Mansion of Sorrows is 3d, while the background is 2d. It's a nice mix. I did find it hard to figure out the controls. Once I did, I encountered a difficult game. I am going to keep playing to find the end.
Good work guys!
Thanks so much for playing and for your kind words! Also really appreciate your feedback, reworking the controls is on our to-do list for the next version :)
