How does you game fit the theme?
In two ways, one is quite clear in that there seems to be someone following you though you can never seem to catch more than a glimpse of him. The other you'll have to reach the end to find out.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
The visual assets and character controller were purchased/downloaded for free from the Unity Asset Store and are specified in the credits. All other code and assets including audio assets were created by me from scratch.

Hey, Dread. Just today I managed to get my internet running again. It was quite the hassle, haha. So now I'm going around on a sprint, playing the games of the people that dropped me a comment over the past weeks.
So let's get straight to your game then.
First things first... your sound clips are, no doubt, quite high quality (as is your standard).
Sadly, I found that the atmosphere of the game didn't really put me on edge all that much. But anyway, let me just do a quick recap of everything as I experienced it:
In summary, I feel like this was a very "by-the-book" horror game. It didn't really push that many boundaries of what is expected from the genre.
Though I'm definitely grateful for it deviating from the "jumpscare doctrine" that plagues the genre since the last decade. A horror experience centered around the use of tension, rather than shock, was a breath of fresh air.
thanks for the feedback Jay! As stated in the final message this game is based off of a real life experience I had struggling with psychosis. The monster is the closest I could get to what I actually saw and it's behavior was based on the idea that he's never actually there he's just something your character is hallucinating out of the corner of his eye, I realize the intention wasn't completely clear but the idea was to give people who have never experienced the mental health struggles I have the opportunity to experience a simulation of it firsthand. After the jam there are changes I'll likely make to make the intention of the behavior more obvious.
Yeah, the end message recontextualised things quite a bit, and changed my opinion on some points (which is reflected on my comment above).
That said, I know that on these jams people tend to be a bit apprehensive about being critical of people's games, due to fear of being rated poorly in turn. But since I know you like things said straight, and I'm not in this one to win it (specially since my own game was pretty bad this time around by my personal standards, lol), I choose to give it to you straight then. We grow better that way.
Not gonna lie, this is actually impressively smooth as an experience, despite you not being a programmer. So I applaud you for it.
I don't think I found anything you could call a bug at all. And you chose assets that all fit pretty well together, so overall on those fronts the game was solid.
Great work indeed! :D
I actually am a programmer now XD but yeah I definitely appreciate the honesty
Lol! I didn't know, hahaha. I stand corrected.
Cheers on your career expansion!
A simple game but on the subject! It has its effect :) Good Job!
My God, this is horrible (in a good way, of course, like every good horror game)!
I am not a super fan of horror games because of monsters and jumpscares, so I really liked how you made the game a "horror" game without these things. There are a lot of other things that can create a spooky ambience and you used it to create an awesome game. Well done!
Great atmosphere and sound design! But something that holds back this game from being scarier is the fact you're instantly thrown into the pan. If the sound of a bustling city was present at the beginning maybe even some cars and pedestrian to lull people into a semblance of safety and then either gradually or suddenly they stop, throwing player out of that safety bubble and into "Yep, something's wrong" territory.
Other than that, the sound of what I assume to be the player's inner thoughts warning the player and telling them to keep going is actually kind of soothing, not sure if this one is intended or not. But hearing a human voice even if it's just actually your thoughts is comforting.
What a terrible atmosphere!
The gameplay is simple but effective, the atmosphere is captivating and the sound.... pouah in the headset I had chills!
Congratulations!
