Good game! I should note that the graphics are executed at a very high level.

(I am now in a rush to test as many games as possible to help, so please do not mind the cursory reviewing style.)

Semi-on-the-fly remarks:
  1. Both English and Portuguese, cool, seeing that there is written in-game information according to the instructions! :D (I am no Lusophone, but have an interest in foreign languages, so, maybe one day. :) Even though not one of my current target languages, but I dabble in Spanish.)
  2. Why are the credits hidden in the Settings submenu?
  3. controls ARE layout-independent, great!! (I have an AZERTY keyboard.) And arrow keys are enabled.
  4. time continues while reading; fair enough
  5. at least two misspellings in the first text I see ("astk" -> "ask", "Stoneheng" -> "Stonehenge"), so you might want to double-check
  6. music from both the menu and in game are great! Also, sound effects and visual atmosphere. Very soothing and somewhat ‘nostalgic’/mysterious music.
  7. Left Shift works for running, but Right Shift does not; could be useful when playing with the arrows and mouse
  8. We do not know what the time limit is from the beginning, which is stressful! Is it on purpose, or do you have to read it somewhere?
  9. small movement of the head while staying still, nice detail
  10. Cheaty thing: you can pause while reading.
  11. I really like the concept of not being too explicit about how things are working, and letting the player know through indirect texts; this actually reminds me of "Alone in the Dark" (which is the true first "Resident Evil"!).
  12. Lost while reading a book on the third element (Eye of Dagda) (and only had one shapeshifter, before deciding to read everything). XD Did not watch closely what time it was, but I feel you cannot really first read all the books and then win the game on your first time, the timespan limit is too short — except if you are a skilled fast reader.
  13. Playing again: GREAT, the objet I had identified as a shapeshifter the first time (the lamp near the beginning) is not! So, there is randomness, or at least, variation! :D :)
  14. Is jumping really useful?
  15. Finally figured out that ROLLING THE MOUSE WHEEL is how you change objects!! I think you should be more explicit about this command; you can still add it to the game page.
  16. The second object apparently tells you how many Shapeshifters are in the vicinity.
  17. And according to a book, the third is about protecting yourself from spells? But no-one attacks you?
  18. Spoiler: The only way I really managed to find a Shapeshifter, as in my first run, is by seeing an object move (and listening). The second object helps, and I still do not really get what the third is for. Silly me, I realize the name is written: "Radar"! XD So, I guess you have to use the sound rhythm. Seeing how the recharge is infinite, it looks like it is even more powerful than the second object! (Ah, not the sound, but rotation. Oh, BOTH sound and rotation. X) Way more precise than the second object!)
  19. Found all five!

Takeaway: the atmosphere and books are great for immersion and getting into the lore, but you really have to dedicate a first run to read properly, and actually, the names for the 2nd and 3rd objects are quite a giveaway as to their usefulness, so I even think reading is in fact totally optional; still, I enjoyed doing it. :) I also think the concept is original, and fairly connected to the theme (ghosts, although not horror, this time!).

I think the game becomes too easy using the third object! I would advise either removing or nerfing it; if you remove it, then the 2nd object could be made either infinitely usable or stay the same, depending on the difficulty you are aiming for. Jumping did not seem useful, and running only little. I really like that the Shapeshifters are not located the same depending on the run; I wonder if they can switch places DURING a run — if not, I would advise they do! I also wonder if I missed some mechanic, seeing how one book told about protection. Adding some danger (other than the time limit) could be interesting. Also, I think you should state the time limit (although I may have missed it from a book? I only noticed one saying that it becomes dangerous after an undefinite number of hours).

This is a very original and interesting atmospheric hide-and-seek game, with fine details, and my only complaint would be that I wished for some more mechanics and usefulness of the books! Hey, it is a good sign when the public wants more. :)

Thanks for the game!

PS: as JUSTCAMH says, I was expecting various ghosts with different abilities from the books, which could be a very good way to give more variety to your game! :)

PPS: I realize the ghosts are very Pac-Man-like. XD

hi, good work. nice grafics and good game idea ...

for me i NEED to invert the vertical mouse ... please implement :)

Aww I didn't find them all... now they'll find me! I was hoping for a scene where they al come get me LOL I like the idea, the music, the scene is set up nicely. Cool idea. One thing to note, for some reason the lines on objects move a bit (like the marching ants of a selection tool in a art program) Not sure why that would happen, but it was distracting - particularly when the lines of the floor and ceiling were doing it at the same time 🤷‍♂️Good job!

Very interesting and well finished game!

The graphics are beautiful, the sound is well adapted and I was impressed by the design and the quality of the menus! A real artist. Bravo!

decent little game! nice grapichs and mood.

with a little bit of more action, this could be a longer game I'd play.

the story wasn't catchy for me either.

Hey damn I love the look and fell of h=the game. Its a fun engaging experience. Very well done

Wow this game is really impressive. I was most impressed by the fact that the shapeshifters seemed to be different each time, which is great for replayability!

This house is super duper impressive, though I get the feeling it was entirely premade assets? With all the detail in the environment though, I noticed a lot of artifacts from the textures being too HD, like if you stand still, the camera bobs subtly and causes all the textures to shimmer. I believe enabling mipmaps would've helped with this, so that surfaces that are further away / viewed at an angle have less detail. Also on graphics, enabling screen space ambient occlusion would've helped bring all the assets together.

On the gameplay though, I had no issue figuring out what you had to do, each of the items had a clear purpose which was easy to intuit. I did feel like there could more threat, as it was, I didn't know how much time I had because it wasn't clear what time causes failure. Midnight I suppose? I initially skipped over a lot of books because the timer didn't pause, and I was initially concerned about time, but I later came back to them. From reading the books I had expected different types of ghosts that would have different signs for you to look out for, but I like that you kept it simple for the jam!

Neat little game that was fun to learn, it'd be really interesting having more scenarios with different ghosts and new tools to learn on the job!

This game is really difficult for me to judge. The idea is interesting, it looks pretty good and the sound is not bad. I had some issues hitting the shapeshifters, but it is okay for a jam game.

All of this is okay, but the story did not grab my interest, and not because it is a bad story, I was just not interested in it. The lack of interest in the story, also makes the shooting the shapeshifters a bit less interesting for me. And sadly I then begin to focus on stupid things like the "field of view"  was a bit narrow, the things in the house has weird sizes, and the player character is a bit short. This is all small issues for a jam game, but somehow because the story did not grab my interest, it become a bigger issue then it really is.

Overall is this a pretty good jam gam, but just because of the story, it was not a game for me.

Excellent graphics, good sound, with a good puzzle. A cool game!

Very fun game! Took me a while to understand the third wand but after that it became pretty fun.

Really cool easter egg hunt type game

Pros: nice graphics and sound design, really fun blend of mechanics, I liked the story that you could find through the open books, the actual gameplay loop was really satisfying

Cons: an explanation of each ability would have been nice but I was able to figure them out eventually, the footstep sounds were a tad janky

The atmosphere in this game is amazing, the setting feels really finished, the music sets the tone perfectly. It was a little confusing at first but not hard once I figured it out. I really enjoyed my time playing, great job!

Very nice and interesting game, although I had a few hickups here and there with not being able to find the enemies, I think it was a neat experience

Nice premise and atmosphere! I really enjoyed reading through the notes and piecing together some of the lore of this world. Really liked the focus on English folklore (I hadn't seen puck/puca in video game before).

I also enjoyed searching for pucas, but found it quite hard past the first few ones (I always had 1 or 2 remaining before either my wand or the detector/orange crystal would run out of use). I didn't quite understand how to use the "radar" (the green crystal), even if I saw it shaking from time to time... Limiting the number of use per item made them feel pretty precious and compelled me to not "spam them", so I thought it really added to the gameplay.

Overall I had fun puca hunting, great job for a 1-week game!

Spoiler: I had trouble with the third object too, but I figured how it was used once I noticed the "Radar" name: you click once to activate it, and then, it will make noises and rotate depending on whether you are close to a Shapeshifter or not. This is precisely a counterexample to the preciousness/scarcity of the two other items, since it does apparently recharge infinitely, which I thought was a problem as it can make the game too easy, but I agree that scarcity for the rest is a good idea!

The game looks very good, pretty impressed with the menu and the ability to change language. Though the shadow of the main character also looks weird, sort of a giant capsule.

The main problem for me was that it wasn't clear how to deal with the shapeshifters. The notes, while helping the atmosphere, felt a bit too cryptic and I didn't get the purpose of the items. The emerald orb said I identified shapeshifters near me, but I didn't see any. Using the crystal didn't seem to do anything. I fired with my wand around but to no avail.

But I really enjoyed the idea, seemed very promising that any object in the house could be one of these imps.
