What was everyone's biggest inspiration for your game?

Hey everyone! I would love to know who or which games inspired you in making your own game for the jam! Personally, I would say Asbjørn was my biggest inspiration to begin making games, and I tried to base my game off a similar concept from LixianTV's game, 'Do it for Me.'

What are your stories?

I was inspired to start making games when I was a kid playing them myself. Growing up I kind of always knew I wanted to be creative and I studied different ways such as writing and painting but then I was introduced into game making when my sister got me RPG maker 2003. And that was the start of me wanting to do that forever.

As for this project I was immediately inspired by the theme. I knew I wanted a game where the player is lied to by the one thing they should trust, the instructions. Initially I wanted to make it even more bizarre but I worried no one could play then

Mine was also somewhat inspired by Do it for Me! And, as several people have picked up on, Papers Please but the influence there is a little more obvious. I wanted to do something kind of like that and I’ve never really done a point and click type of game in unity and I wanted to branch out so I thought the style would suit it well, but I also wanted to go a sort of unreliable narrator direction.

It’s a lot more gritty and atmospheric than I usually do so it was a lot of fun to make the art for, but boy was I burnt out by the time I was finishing it up last night.

My inspiration is Hallow Knight!  I love that game/controls so much!

I hope to make a full metroidvania someday.  That's what I practice in every game jam I join~
