Artistic Statement / Use of Theme(s)
The game incorporates the theme of the jam by showing deforestation and the effects it has on humans and animals. We used different monochromatic colors such as reds and browns to show the emptiness of the environment and the sawmill itself. We also took inspiration from Mega Man Zero for the level design and Payday 2 for the Boss Arena, showing the greediness of the boss.

Development Summary
We started this idea with a smaller team of 4, originally stemming from a joke that we thought of based around the theme of change the story. From there we fine tuned our idea into something more appropriate for the jam and started thinking some things through. We then expanded our team to include three more members, giving us a total of seven members. We had made many additions to our original idea. Originally it was to be set in an oil rig and have guards who were spirits as well but would be dogs that are loyal to the owner of the rig. There was also going to be a mini-boss but we scrapped that for the sake of time. We added NPCs with their own sets of dialogue to provide the player more information about the world and effects that sawmills can have if not managed properly. We ran into many technical issues along the way such as corrupted files and things not coming out how we originally planned once translated into the game. We were surprised to see all of the different effects that settings in Godot and our code had once they interacted. Our programmers did their absolute best with the physics of the character and mechanics, but some of the settings in Godot created some weird interactions that we managed to iron out in time. Navigating through this new experience was a difficult time because for many of us this was our first game that we made. We all had very different backgrounds and areas of expertise so we had an awkward start but managed to pull it together and have some great work come out of it. The hardest things for us to change/cut were characters. We all had different ideas and methods for going about the world of this game so some parts had to be changed personality and gameplay wise to make it more reasonable for our skill range.

Release Plan
This is a game that only covers one aspect of a world that I (Project lead) would like to cover. It originally was going to show a multitude of levels to choose from with for the sake of the game jam only one being available. Adding more facilities to visit and making changes to our young spirit protagonist as he navigates them would be our ideal if the game expands. At the moment it is unsure whether the game will grow to have more levels but I (Project lead) would love to explore that posibility.

Lovely pixel art style and transforming into a fox is an interesting mechanic. However some of the collisions for the tree stumps you jump on feel pretty off an janky.

Although I thought that it was interesting how you could transform into a fox, I wish there was more to do as a human instead of waiting for your cooldown to be over. Maybe the humans should be stronger while the fox is faster and can jump higher - so that only the human can push objects? I also think I got stuck in the sawmill room.

I love the character design and the sprite of the trees . I could not get past the first stage since my jump was not high to land on the of final branch.
