Play as a child in field trip day dreaming about the exhibitds on the museum

Full Description
The game follows a small child on a field trip to the local climate change museum where they are met by a robot guide. As the child explores the exhibit, they daydream about a fantasy scenario in a landfill where they must defeat trash monsters in an attempt to help the dump. The daydream forms a unique gameplay with different types of attacks, light, medium, and heavy, and different variations of trash monsters, each having a weakness to a certain type of attack. The player must use strategic use of the different attacks to exploit the monsters’ weaknesses and defeat them to gain health or power-ups. After defeating the monsters, the boy snaps back to reality and has completed the game…for now.

Artistic Statement / Use of Theme(s)
We decided to expand upon the theme of Telling the stories of climate justice that aren’t often told. We decided on a game about a child on a field trip to the local climate change museum. As the child explores each exhibit, they daydream about fantastical scenarios inspired by the exhibit's theme.

Development Summary
We started with the idea to make three mini-games that were connected with a museum hub, but due to the schedule of programmers/developers, the difficulty of the game idea, and the varying levels of skill, we had to reduce it to just one level for the jam. We also ran into character rigging issues for the animations.

Release Plan
The first level is polished enough for release. The museum hub world and the dialogue are functional. The team plans to continue the development of levels two and three after the jam.

My laptop unfortunately wasn't able to really handle your game very well, it would lag and freeze with every couple of steps, but from what I could see, I loved the art in the game. From the materials, objects, enemies, etc. It was really well done and I love the mix between low poly and high poly.

So this had a lot of polish and promise at first the voice acting and beginning segment was really well done. However I found the trash segment to be way to difficult and could never complete it. I was constantly being swarmed by large numbers of trash, and my attacks didn't seem to do much damage. Also due to being constantly on the run I could only ever get a few hits in on each enemy, so a lot of enemies would loose health but I couldn't focus on one long enough to kill it. So every round I would hit a lot of enemies but could only ever kill one or two. Killing 40 enemies just seemed down right impossible and an insane difficulty spike to put at the beginning of the game. There seemed to be two other sections I don't know if they have been made or not but I could not get to them. Perhaps if the player could choose which one to start first it might make sense, but Being railroaded in to the incredibly difficult fungus fight was annoying. The enemies either needed to be easier to kill or there needed to be less because I just kind of got bored of dying with very little progress.

The other two level were not done yet so that is why they were closed off. But once they are finished you should be able to pick and choose which level to go to in the museum hub. If you press space bar  your character will roll this will  help in   dodging  enemy attacks.

Hi, I already gave some feedback in the discord server, so I'm going to summarize and maybe add some new things that I came across.

I do really like what you have so far in terms of the museum and fungus level. However, a new issue I came across while replaying the game is with the enemies spawning randomly in the fungus level. There were times where I was swarmed by 5-6 trash monsters upon starting the level, with two more running towards me when I defeat a few. While I was able to last longer thanks to the enemies dropping health ups, it gets really annoying to be dog piled by enemies just because of they somehow spawned close to each other. There was also an instance where an enemy spawned inside one of the piles of garbage, which made me unable to finish the level due to not being able to reach the last enemy (look at picture to understand what I'm referring to). I also came across a glitch where pausing the game somehow disables the dodge roll.

As for the visuals and animation, most of them are well done, but it's hard to see the main character's due to much of him being obscured by the mushroom hat. Speaking of the mushroom hat, I noticed that part of the model is stretching, which is shown in another of the images. I also recommend adding a loop to the idle as the child just freezes after a bit.

Aside from that, I still enjoyed your game and can't wait to see the next two levels.

Hi,  I just wish to apologize for not being able to rate this as the framerate is too bad on my PC (when the fungus level starts), but it is clear you have made an imaginative game here. Maybe I find a way to play it in a few days.
