  • The art is absolutely incredible! I think the game may start out too difficult and will turn some people away and tracking the jumps and balloon is quite demanding. Otherwise this looks really great and could definitely be on the app store now! --- Visuals are incredible, everything fits super well and I'm so impressed by the attention to detail in background/motion etc.! I like the new twist on a classic game type. Go Bears! --- 32/40

I had absolutely so much fun on this game!! :D I'm so bad at arcade-type games where quick reaction times and key sensitivity is important HAHA 💦 But I enjoyed this so much, I kept trying and trying even though I die within like 2 seconds > ㅡ< doh.

LOVE love love the parallaxing background! The animations are so SMOOTH and cute too (seeing the boy cry makes me cry TOO ㅠ ㅡㅠ) Everything is just so cohesive and polished, I can't believe it was made in a single jam! The music really adds to the retro-feel of the game as well~!  Not to mention, I haven't played a game where you need to control two characters (the balloon and the boy) at once - my brain is trying to keep up with one LOL HAHA, so clever and adds so much more entertainment value!

I... don't really have any constructive criticism because everything was done so well! But... if there was an easy mode, I'd definitely welcome that! xD I'm struggling a little too much here..

This game is very difficult but otherwise really fun, has good graphics, and catchy background music. I do wish it would start off a little easier for us beginners!

I like the concept of this, and the art is really nice too. I did find the game to be a tad bit difficult which is alright, other than that I really liked it! Keep up the good work :)

My highscore is 12! Is that good? I hope so haha

I think my favorite part of the game is the music. As soon as it started, I was like, "oh yeah. I'm feeling this one". I also like how the music syncs up with the messages at the start of the game.

Unfortunately, these starting messages felt pretty annoying to me. Whenever possible, it's good to reduce the time it take for a player to reset after they die. That way, players can stay in the flow state.

I'll give this one a few more tries, because it's really fun! It's simple enough that it could be a good mobile game, I think.

Wow. I really can't get past the 3rd or fourth tree ;-;
This game has such a fun surface appeal, but I can't really get better because I have wait for the long reset to each level. It usually takes me just a few seconds to hit something, leading me to watch the instructions for twice as long as I play :(

I'd definitely like to come back and check this out if you add more difficulty options.
Really well done with the polished visuals, by the way. Everything looks very cohesive and the main character's run is adorable!

Great work! I love the art style, music, and game concept. I would work on the difficulty, start off slow with introducing trees for the first few jumps then maybe once you get to 5 or 6 points start introducing birds, and then slowly increase the amount of enemies/their speed because currently, I think I've spent more time in the instructions than actually playing the game. Keep up the great work!

Great work team! This is absolutely wonderful. The visual design is appealing and extremely polished--the parallax in the background and the endearing game-over crying animation are two of my favorite details. The concept is extremely novel as well, and controlling both characters with the up and down arrow keys is surprisingly intuitive. The audio ties it all together though--the way the animations line up with the music's beat is sensational, and the melody coming in right after the tutorial is a great touch.

As with below commenters, my principal hang-up is that I'm getting absolutely smoked. I couldn't hit double digits no matter how hard I tried. I think that keeping the balloon below the danger zone while jumping is challenging enough to start out--maybe bring in the birds later, or have an early section with just birds! Overall, though, this is a stunningly complete package. Amazing work!

Well.. the instructions were very clear. The graphics were very lively and the audio was fantastic--reminded me of Kirby. In terms of design, I think I would have actually played this game for longer than 2 minutes if there had been some sort of scale-up in difficulty, but it starts off pretty hellishly intense with zero mercy. I think if there had been a life meter and opportunities to refresh, that would also have made the game more playable for me, but that's my preference and probably not what you were going for. Overall looks like a well made little package!

A plain and simple game with a sincere appreciation for older games but still maintaining an original and standout form. The music was annoyingly catchy, the art-style was fun and cute and although the mechanics were simple, the application of said mechanics were very reminiscent of a certain mobile game where you tap the screen to flap the wings on a bird.

I found myself playing through the game over and over again attempting to increase my score to at least two digits while my frustration and interest grew. Other than dying over and over again, I'd say the only thing I disliked about your game was that everytime I died I was met with the same tutorial-ish message followed by the 3-2-1. As someone who looped through this many times, I was tempted to yell "YEAH I GET IT, LET ME JUST PLAY THE GAME ALREADY". Other than that I genuinely believe that this game will be a top contender for this jam. Good work.

The art style for this game was adorable, really brought everything together. As a UCLA student, one improvement I would make would be to make it about a better school (lol). Or a little tutorial prompt before the game starts to make it a little easier.

Honestly this was one of the most fun, complete games of the jam, to the point where I think you could release this as a mobile game and it wouldn't feel out of place.

If I had to give criticism, I would say probably get rid of the introduction on restart since it is frustrating to wait so long (especially since I died every 3 seconds lol)
