After reviewing the comments thread and restarting the game, I was able to successfully deliver a few orders. From what I can tell, as soon as you mess up, there is no recovery to actually be able to finish that order...I didn't see it reset when starting with the first item again. If this is true, this makes it very hard to learn the game because if you get something wrong, you can never finish that order and leads to confusion (as I also was confused). As an idea, you could have a station that is used to 'reset' OR using the first ingredient (cauldron in most cases?) again counts as starting over. Maybe the ingredients added could be checked off on the menu list...and the entire order is gets some kind of indication if there is an error.
While it is cute to have the cat and crow, I'm not sure how I'd really navigate both at the same time. Maybe this mechanic is used later in the game.
The art and sound assets and setting were absolutely wonderful and well designed. the upper left corner had ingredients kind of close together and it was possible to activate two or three stations simultaneously. Maybe this works as a shortcut when all items are in the recipe, but it also can make for errors.
It was neat that you included the phonograph to turn music on and off.
Really nice start to a restaurant sim. Keep at it!
Aw, thank you for the super sweet and thoughtful feedback! This is extremely helpful and we're so thankful you took the time to playtest the game!
We'll definitely make it a priority to implement "recipe-fixing" into the gameplay loop, and add more visual indicators from the NPC on when a drink was correct vs. incorrect. An idea we had previously was a trash can to "restart" the drink, so we'll probably be implementing that going forwards.
The cat and the crow are there because the game is meant to be played with two people locally (think Fireboy and Watergirl!). We'll probably implement a main menu selection to choose between singleplayer and two-player later on, though, so people actually have the option!
Thank you again and we'll be revisiting this feedback often to improve the game :D
Unfortunately, couldn't get the game to start beyond the main menu. Clicked all over the Play button and eventually it just exits :(
Will try this after the jam in case you update it
Oh nooooo which platform are you on? It seems to be working fine for me on the Mac build!
I'm on Windows 10. I didn't think to try the mac version. Will give that a try
I couldn't figure out what to do, just walked over the various elements, used the crow to push the cat and vice versa.
The music and visuals are really good, would love to see this game working at some point in the future.
Thank you for the sweet words! Yes, we weren't able to implement a tutorial and some VFX that would give more clarity on what to do within the time limit TT__TT Basically, you receive orders from NPCs by walking up to them and pressing [Space], then you follow the recipe by interacting with each of the required workstations, and then you fulfill the order by walking back to the NPC and giving them their drink by pressing [Space]
ahh I see, I'll try it again!
It looks very cute, but I totally can not understand how to play. I mean I receive order, go to the components, interact with them and... I don't know where to go and what next
Thank you for playing!!! Sorry, we ran out of time to give clear instructions on gameplay. Basically, you receive orders from NPCs by walking up to them and pressing [Space], then you follow the recipe by interacting with each of the required workstations, and then you fulfill the order by walking back to the NPC and giving them their drink by pressing [Space].
I see, I will try talking to them after interacting with ingredients. Shoud they be interacted in the specified order or any order?
The specific order, ideally! :]
I can't start the game for some reason, I tried clicking play but nothing happened
