Really cool game !! Reminded me a little bit of Wilmot’s Warehouse. I really like the different kinds of minigames. That being said, I do have two main things that could be improved:

  • Exiting the minigames should probably be a more universal key (e.g. escape, shift, backspace, etc.) because the “/” key in the US keyboard is positioned where the “-” key is on my keyboard, so you can see how that could be an issue.

  • The typing minigame’s bar should be cleared and autofocused whenever it is open because it is tedious to click on it and delete the “-” symbol that wrote onto it

Other than that, nice game !! Hopefully you’ll work on it even after the jam :]

Appreciate the feedback! We look to continue working on the game even after the jam so the feedback will be very useful :)

Awesome game! I love the 2.5D look, it is always super fun to see a game try to do it! For the typing minigame, it would be nice if the bar would be cleared every time you opened the game, and also that I didn't need to click on the bar to start typing so I can start right away. But overall its really cool, great work!

Thank you!

Cool game, but i wasn't able to quit minigames for some reason

Developer

That’s unfortunate, we will try to fix it in our future release. Thank you for trying out our game!

Love all the minigames. Personally, I found the '/' not very efficient button to use. I keep accidentally using the esc key and accidentally exiting full screen. I think a button that is easier to access with my left hand such as 'q' could also be very nice. Thanks for the game:)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! When making the game we ran into an issue where we could not use ‘q’ or any other keys as an input because it would interfere with the typing game. :(

I liked it, nice camera work, I love the style. Some things I noticed were that the carrots were a little difficult to interact with since you can run in between and they have smaller hitboxes. Also, I feel that the timing minigame could be more visually pleasing, with maybe instead timing a claw to grab the carrot rather than looking at numbers(although that would possibly make it easier if that was something you were worried about). An easier change would be adding an indicator for the range of the timing on the bar itself. With the random times that the game gives you, there's also the possibility of getting unlucky and having to wait longer. To change this, I would maybe put in a bonus or a chance of a bonus carrot by succeeding in the timing multiple times in a row so the player is less focused on the time spent.

As for the typing minigame I only had one problem with it which was that typing "/" to end the game also typed it in the bar where you type, so if you returned to the game afterwards, the bar wouldn't be automatically highlighted, and you would have to manually click on it, as well as deleting the "/" from last time.

The other things are pretty much just ui/ux stuff, probably a bar or similar visual indicator for penguin patience instead of just a number, moving the required materials to maybe the center top of the screen rather than the bottom right and also increasing the size of them so it's easier to scan as well. You might want to calculate the patience timer based on the materials needed by the penguin also, but that's a design choice.

All in all, pretty awesome game to make in 3 days. I think it's a really good base to work on and polish. By the way, there's no pause button so by writing all this I let down about 14 penguins.

Developer

We appreciate the feedback! We will definitely look to implement these features in our full release.

I like the little world that you created and the fact that the objects in it are the mini games. I failed hard on the first day because I didnt fully understand the carrot minigame, but once I figured that out, I was able to rapidly get out of the negative score into the positives against on day 2.

Fun game!

Thank you!
