this is really well put together, i’m not gonna comment on the “retro” items you yourself recognized as improvement points, those are all great

the writing is very good, did you write it all over the weekend?

the very specific colors (red-ish for items, yellow for places) make it very obvious what you can/cannot do in a place

typing it in wierdly gives some feeling of involvement more than if it was just buttons

I’ve been told the music is too loud, so I will be putting out a small patch with a volume slider to make the game more playable (also fixing a couple of spelling mistakes)
