Great game!! It’s very fun to play and also very entertaining!! Good job doing it :D The way than the game makes you learn some Japanese words and how to pronounce and write them is awesome, it’s very fluid and also natural

The only thing than I have to say about the game is than it will be great to hear again the character voice pronouncing the word when you complete it(the person the first time use a unique voice, but when you complete it, sounds another different voice than is the generic one) and also it will be great to hear the pronunciation of the generic voice on the book too so you can remember how to say it

For the rest is looking awesome!! Good luck working on it!!

Thanks for playing it and for this feedback! I understand your comment about the voice being different and I'll think about how to make the original one available.

You’re more than welcome :D Oh okay, I understand, good luck with it!!

I am going through all submissions to make all developers aware of an important Google form I've made.

I'm joining the IQ folks to help organize smaller events in between the main FQ event in order to help prevent us from getting too many games in main events. Right now, I have a planned structure for these events but I would like to hear from everyone who was in this event in order to tune things better. The survey is a bit long, but it covers as much as I could think of. If you can take the time to do the survey by June 1st, I would immensely appreciate it!

You can find the form here: https://forms.gle/P9LPYwERhJtpZzteA

Overall a very fun way to learn Japanese! I came in with a bit of a background knowing the language and being able to read the characters/Kanji, so I feel like in its current state, it's a little more approachable from an intermediate standpoint than a beginner, as it gets fairly complex fairly quickly after the first few levels. I gave most of my feedback while you stopped by the stream, but I think it's a great foundation, the ui is very clean, and the voice-line pronunciations are a big help in breaking down the words! Would love to see a more gradual build-up in the vocab learning but the environment and pixels are lovely. Great job!

Thanks for playing and for your feedback! I'll consider your comments.

Wow! I feel like this could be a good way to learn Japanese words. Sometimes I got stuck for a little while, and eventually figured things out, but maybe having a hint button would be great if I were to get stuck for a long time.

Another small comment is to have some way to highlight (or arrows pointing to) places where I haven't completed yet. For example, if I'm at 16/17, sometimes it takes a while to find where the last missing question is.

I really loved the intro clips of the plane and train. I wasn't sure if it was part of the loading screen, but it helped to make me feel like I was entering Japan.

Thanks very much for playing it and for your feedback! I recognize the difficulty of finding/solving all the words in the level and I'll work on making this more straightforward.

Your overall theme is great! I love learning Japanese and this was a very fun learner. From a gameplay perspective, it was a bit difficult understanding how to put the words together at certain areas. I recommend a popup tutorial visually showing each way the player can use the words to solve a problem. Since this is an educational game, it is more about learning rather than having mindless fun. Art and sound mix well with your theme! I agree with Altabestudio that adding some sprite animations that don't pertain to the problems in the background would help the world feel more alive while learning :)

Thanks for playing it! I'll work on the tutorials and UI.

Same feedback as before except to also make each word separated so we can drag aka to red instead of dragging the whole entire word "aka shi ngo uda" to red. This feedback is at 49:25 of the VOD https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1821155226

Thanks for playing through it again! It's really helpful for me to be able to see what you are doing in the VOD.

I watched the clip from 49:25 and I understand what you're saying. It definitely shouldn't be dragging the whole "akashingouda" phrase. I'll look into it.

VOD:

You already saw my playthru. lol

Update, I did find the last part and passed it later via your tip. Thank you!

Other than the UI sometimes overlay and dups themselves, and a bit confusing of the different ways I can play it but not all the different ways to solve the text matching, and the fact I can't pass through the stage until I find everything being a bit of a problem, I overall really enjoyed this educational language game. It reminds me of the good times I had in Japan as a visitor too. Thank you for making it. :D I will def go through it again. I think adding a bit of random sprites walking would really make the overall feel lively if you want to think about art touch up.

Thanks so much for playing it and I'm happy you liked it overall! I agree with your comments about the UI and some of the mechanics being confusing and I'll work on improving them. And I'll think about adding some random sprites to make the art more lively.

Look forward to the improvements, def let us know when its updated. :D
