A "wildly" enjoyable time! My stream chat had so much fun using the Twitch integration for Feisty Fauna. It was such a blast experiencing the game with all the adorable creatures and unique abilities. There was a lot of creativity with the attack system, and that made levelling up all the more fun. The characters and sound effects were super cute! I know there's a lot more features that's going to be added to Feisty Fauna. So I am definitely looking forward to experiencing the full game when it's released. 🐔🐥

I am going through all submissions to make all developers aware of an important Google form I've made.

I'm joining the IQ folks to help organize smaller events in between the main FQ event in order to help prevent us from getting too many games in main events. Right now, I have a planned structure for these events but I would like to hear from everyone who was in this event in order to tune things better. The survey is a bit long, but it covers as much as I could think of. If you can take the time to do the survey by June 1st, I would immensely appreciate it!

You can find the form here: https://forms.gle/P9LPYwERhJtpZzteA

So, I'm not a huge fan of "bullet hell" games. They just get a bit too chaotic for my liking, but from what I played... I can tell this is going to do well. The artwork is so cute and well-done, the music is fitting, animations look great, there are a lot of upgrades to acquire, plus permanent upgrades from the title screen... I can see this being a very good roguelike bullet hell game!

OVERALL FUN: I won't rate this on whether I had fun or not... because this isn't my type of game, but I do feel people who enjoy this genre won't be disappointed... I will say considering I don't enjoy these games... I did have fun playing yours!

ART/GRAPHICS: Cute, cartoony, chicken/cat/dog, little rabid foxes... what's not to love here?! Also... really bright and vibrant levels. Love the artwork!

CONTROLS/UI: Easy to control and understand.

SOUND/MUSIC: Good music. Check. Animal sounds. Check. Bravo here :-)

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you had fun playing my take on this genre of games :)

A fun take on the Vampire Survivor genre. I really like the animal theme, but I wish you went all in for each skill in the game (I'll explain it later).

Art Direction: theme is really fun and refreshing, the visual is solid and everything is well put together. Sometimes I feel like the player attacks are not that visible in the heat of the combat, but it's a minor issue.

Audio: I like the music, the sound design is good and everything fits together. Good job.

Controls/UI: controls are tight, and the UI is clear and everything is easy to understand from the get-to-go.

Game Loop: game loop is the standard for the genre. Kill stuff, level up, choose upgrades, and collect coins until you die. Solid, but may need something more to really stand out. Maybe some missions, a story, or anything that can tie the game together and make it really different than many like it. Also, especially using Peppermint, one can easily just circle around laying eggs and call it a day without much involvement other than the occasional boss. This works in the first biome, the Halloween one is a bit more difficult with all the tornadoes.

Theme: this is something completely personal and does not influence my overall positive opinion of the game. I love the animal theme, but I don't like the solution you came for a couple of skills. Main offenders: the electric globes and the comets, + the shuriken for the cat. I think that they can easily be changed to something more animal-related without losing their identity (shurikens can become claws and it's still a ninja cat using them as shurikens).

Overall a solid foundation for a really good game, good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! From your description of the Halloween level, it sounds like you played the Alpha demo. If you're interested, the Beta playtest has missions so running in a circle as Peppermint will no longer be sufficient to complete the game 😀

There are also many more animal-themed skills!

You can give it a try by clicking "Request Access" on the Steam page, and that should give you access immediately to download and play the Beta Playtest.

Alright, where to start... This is a fun "E for Everyone" game. Fast and fun, there's a sense of achievement when you level up that's really nice, specially with the current choice of sfx. Since i mostly seen people using the chicken on streams and i love cats more, i tried the cat, and had a blast with it. The models of all the animals are lovely, and the difficulty on the bosses are really good, even if you don't play with the difficulty levels and just leave it as default, it is well made.

Overall, the game is really fun and enjoyable, from 0 to 99 ys old for sure. There's a few things i can suggest or maybe is just me that would like to see

- My understanding is that Biomes are on the works, but maybe changing between seasons as you kill the bosses, or a slight change (Like the same map but with fire and an orange post-process maybe to emulate you are in a fire environment, something like that)

- Having day and night too will be fun, or maybe in the future add a nightmare mode :p

-Skins are always welcome, i could see the cat with a halloween costume lol

- music is fun, having different music choices will also be a nice addition.

Bottom line, this sure is a 5/5 game and great to release stress on a monday morning filled with work emails :p

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, and for your valuable comments! I'm glad you played the cat and enjoyed it!

  • Changing biomes in between stages is a good idea! I don't have a great way to do that currently, but it's something I'll think about. I have given some thought to change parts of the biome at least (e.g., less green trees, more yellow trees, other things spawn etc). Post-processing could be really cool, I need to look into that (and learn it)
  • I love the idea of day and night, that might be a good way to vary how the biome looks when the dragons appear! I'll play around with that, thanks for the suggestion!
  • I created a Halloween biome last Halloween for the Alpha demo! That biome was set to night time with more lighting effects, and I'm looking to do something like that more in other biomes too. The player creatures did have costumes! :)  The Alpha demo still currently playable on Steam if you're interested)  I highly recommend giving the Alpha demo a try and let me know how you feel about it! That biome hasn't been moved over to the Beta playtest yet since I'm planning to re-release it closer to Halloween this year, but suggestions for that biome are very highly welcome.
  • Different music options is a good idea :)

Hi! I'm part of the Feedback Quest and thank you for dropping by on my stream!

Here's the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1820605598

Most of the Feedback was already mentioned in the VOD but to give a rough summary. I think the game is VERY solid. I consider it the Standard for Game Dev. Smooth, well built, has a good gameplay loop, a suitable UI Design. The variety of different playstyles from the different characters are also interesting. I enjoyed it. The only complain I have is ENTIRELY subjective its that its missing something. I can't tell what that something is and I hope someone else might give better insight. All in all, amazing work.

Personal rating: 3/5

Developer

Thanks for playing it on your stream! I'm sorry the Twitch integration isn't working for you, and I look forward to debugging it with you to figure it out :)

I'm working to improve the game over time, so hopefully the next time you play it, the missing something will be present! :)

so cute the animals the sounds the everything mgmgmgmfmfmfg

its so cute and funny, I love it so much

Thanks, I'm glad you love it!

Cuteness overload!

Trying this game for the second time, I can clearly see that it has improved, although it was already pretty fun the first time I tried it.

Not a huge download, and runs very well.

The sound effects are cute :)

I only wish I had a controller, I think it would make it even more enjoyable.

Developer

Thanks for playing! :) Yes, it plays better with a controller but keyboard is ok too. I frequently (mostly) test using the keyboard since it's more convenient

Tons of fun!!! I love the twitch integration, the UI is very clean and easy to use, the music is a fun little bop, and I can't wait to see where this goes in the future! Will definitely be putting this on my steam wishlist and would love to do a full play through when it releases! Only feedback would be to have upgrades to personal stats (like extra speed boost or health) as bonuses that you can use level ups on. Overall a great time!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I've added a speed boost loot power-up, as well as level-up perks that you can choose out of the 3 options. Reducing damage (or increasing health) sounds like a good idea that I can do next, thanks for the suggestion!

I was hoping to review the game tonight, but upon starting the game my daughter took my controller from me and took over. She had an absolute blast playing and said, “it’s too fun!”

We had a priceless moment when we finished one wave, and all the little dragons showed up and we said “ooo I wonder if they’re coming to be our friends”… they were not… so we legged it and dropped eggs as fast as possible.

She would like to know if there’s a dinosaur boss in the game.

I love the look of the game, you’ve played my game, so you know there's some similarity in the types of 3D models we have, I appreciate a good tree and grass, and I love yours (I might even have another crack at my trees and grass!). Animals are cute, but also threatening (those bull eyes will haunt me).

There is a neverendingness quality to the game we had when playing, which may be by design or maybe just because we didn’t play it for long enough. I would have liked an opportunity for some closure to a level and some variety to the look, but that may go against what you’re trying to achieve.

Overall it’s a great game, heaps of fun and has now caused me a problem with getting my daughter to bed. Well done. I’ve wishlisted so I can keep track of what comes next. Good luck.

Developer(+1)

Ooh, a dinosaur boss would be really cool! I don't think I have a dinosaur asset (yet) but I do have other assets that I haven't used and I'm planning to add to the game.

Having closure to a level makes sense, one of the big features I'm planning to add soon is a "campaign/story" mode, where each level is more directed and meaningful, and there'll be more closure for each stage, compared to the current mode (which would remain as a "classic/endless" mode) where it's wave after wave of enemies :)

Thanks for the wishlist, and I'm really happy that you and your daughter enjoyed the game!

I really like the idea of doing a cute bullet heaven / Vampire Survivors-like game. I liked the overall look and feel of it. I thought the animals and hearts and coins look particularly great. The enemies clump together pretty quickly, and I sometimes had some difficulty understanding if the attacks were actually firing into the clump (particularly the comet attack). Enemies seemed not to react very much when hit by attacks, so I also wasn't sure sometimes if attacks were hitting. I might suggest having some kind of strike/hit animation, knockback, or animated health bar reduction to make it more obvious. I wasn't sure what the coins did; they seemed to accumulate, but I wasn't sure how many of them I needed to trigger a reward. I saw that there is a clock counting down (I assume to the boss fight?) but it didn't say what it's counting down to. When choosing upgrades, I wished that the game provided a little more information about them to make the decision more interesting and help you plan what kind of build you want to work towards. For example, I wondered how much damage each potential attack does. Thank you for sharing the demo!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing the game and for your valuable comments!

I'll look to see if I can make the comet hit more obvious. There's an explosion effect at later levels of the comet, but I might add a smaller "boom" thing for the earlier levels for it's more obvious, thanks for the feedback!

The coins are meant for purchasing player buffs in between games, sounds like I should make it more obvious!

Regarding the skills, I've given some thought into a sort of "skill preview" of sorts, but it's a lot of work, so I'm still on the fence about it. The intention is to have each skill (at the same level) be roughly equivalent in terms of dps, but I haven't really balanced the skills yet.

(+1)

Exhilarating and addictive! Twitch integration is fantastic. Everything worked as intended. Controls/UI feel good. Love the extra character options and accessibility options for changing gameplay. Small critique to change sound of airstrike as the sub-booms don't sound pleasant to the ear over the repetition of the game.  This game would benefit from extra flair on enemy attacks to slow down or to cripple the player to spark more intensity. More game modes like random spawned enemies would also be fun!

Developer

Thanks for your comments, and for streaming my game yesterday! It was a blast watching you have fun with it, and also stress test it :)

The airstrike sounds will be updated very soon and hopefully the new sounds will be better over headphones. Adding a slow/cripple effect on the player and random spawned enemies are good ideas, and I've added them to my to-do list for future versions!

Developer(+1)

PSA: please download and play the Beta Playtest version, which you can get by clicking "Request Access" on the Steam page. The demo is the older Alpha version. The playtest is set to automatically accept requests, so you should be able to download and play the game right after clicking "Request Access". Thanks!

VOD:

Overall really enjoyed this update, yes, you saw me running into issues with the character selections. lol XD Definitely look forward to viewers characters updates in the future if that's on the to do list. As streamers it's def very enjoyable that I can play with my viewers supporting me. The sound update is also very pleasant. My baby loves the explosive eggs and the chicken, we would play together when she wants to poke around my pc.

Developer(+1)

The updates are up! The player selection UI is improved, and Twitch viewers can now do a bunch more things:

  • !spawn a minion
  • !sacrifice their minion
  • !health to create a health orb for the streamer
  • !experience to create an experience orb for the streamer

Feel free to play the game again if you have time :)

Jam Host(+1)

wow, fast update. Thank you! I will try these out.
