Notes (optional)
Very prototype of a topdown endless fish game. I won't be able to polish it. I wanted to make a 2D game but ended in this 2,5D one using some assets instead...

Pretty good,i like the little details such as the fish's expressions after some events and the boat with the rope net

You got an extra star out of me just because the 2d fish pic in the bottom left reacts to what you're doing (eating, sprinting, etc), I'm a sucker for that lol.

Biggest polish update from here (in theory) would def be making it so that the ground doesn't just fall away into the void --- even a looping texture with some kind of fence or something would feel nicer I think

Developer

Haha Thanks! I really like those blendshapes when I discovered them. At the beginning I was about to display emoticon, but this is definitely better 😀 Agree for the ground, I wanted to either limit the camera at border so you won’t be able to see that. I thought to make a pond with fishing people around so it would be a closed area but it wouldn’t match the sharks that way…

Good job with the terrain, rocks, the aesthetics in general were so good!, also the movement was very well done. perhaps the fish can be a little bit bigger or an option to zoom in and out

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you. Actually the initial goal was to make the fish grow at some extent with the eaten food, which makes it less agile but stronger, but no time to do that part unfortunately.

I was trying to escape the shark for quite a while until I wanted to see what they do and found out they dont eat you lol ...

if you swim diagonally it seems it sums the speeds for up and sideways so you kinda get super fast.

yeah I missed the risk after finding out the sharks dont eat you, but can be a cozy game as well if you evolve this idea in the opposite direction

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks for the feedback! They actually do eat you but not as often as I expect unfortunately.

I noticed the speed is higher while going diagonal late too, easy fix to do (normalize the H/V inputs)

Hi, found it interesting, but the lack of agresivity made it, less enjoyable. Nice visuals!

Developer

Thank you, I wil definitively make the sharks more aggressive. So you will be worrying more about them when in sight. I coudln’t have enough time to balance their behavior.

Très bon jeu de mot x), The art is cute, and I had fun playing with it. Maybe the shark can be ennemy to ? Apart from that, good job !

Developer(+1)

Haha merci. Actually the sharks are enemies but I didn’t managed to increase the probability enough to chase the player (it was too agressive at the beginning but at release it was ok not to chase all the time). If you stay around them they might go a meal 🦈
